I was on an airplane when we passed Air Force One sitting on the runway. Man it was impressive. The pilot was kind enough to point it out to all of us so we could take a look. It just screams "America" and you feel proud.

I used to volunteer at the museum when the Presidential Hangar was on base. Spent alot of time on that A/C.

I used to fly the White House Press Charters for Pan Am with George H. W. Bush. On a stopover while POTUS was in town, I got a tour of this airplane by the Air Force One Chief Pilot. We had to get a security clearance from the White House. The CP gave me a POTUS tie tack which I always wore after that. It's very hard to get. Lots of people asked me about it. Cool airplane!

I walked through that plane a year ago, tight squeeze! It was fascinating, then it was a little disappointing to find out that some of the interior was redone by the Johnson administration, then it was completely gutted and redesigned at the beginning of the Nixon administration. An identical second plane went into service in 1972 and this one remained in service only as a backup until 1998. So although the historic events after JFK's assassination took place inside that fuselage, the layout and furniture are different.
