  • I converted the Yamaha Raptor Quad to a 20v battery and installed different LED lights on it. It's not a power wheels brand but this things rips!

    I see this video is 2 years old now, did similar setup for the same wheeler as far as the 20v drill battery! However, the chuck on my craftsman drill crapped out on me. So I opened up the drill, took the wiring out, cut a good 2-3 inches up on the wires, and cut the bottom part of the drill itself off and put that part back together with the connectors in it so the battery slides right in! Just thought I’d share incase you end up doing this again and have junk drills laying around!

    I just dropped in a 12.8 volt, 10 amp hour lithium battery into my grandkids quad. Lasts about 1 1/2 times as long as a stock battery.

    24V is fine...it has stock 570 motors 11 t pinon ( 24v capiable) and built in Heat sink to the gearbox.
    I have 3-ea...got it for cheap ( $0-$40) on FB market....I have the susuki and yamaha.
    the front wheels are the same as the back wheels.
    I jwack the bottom of the battery tray...so I can fit 2-ea 12v @ 12ah ( 12000mah)
    lead acid..that I took out of mx500...ect....12V @ 9.5 ah or 10 ah....will fit into the
    stock tray ( razor/schwin 24v scooter)...it runs for hours
    STOCK....it's 10-12 mph..fun speed for the 4-7 old old...The 10 yr/old can ride
    on it even..she's still under 100lb....
    You WANT this BRAND to do cheap voltage increase...without striping the gears.
    I made it even FASTER....I took the motors from a pegporago they have 570 motors with
    13T pinons...( got the perrego for $15)
    You need to install 40-50 amp fuse...if you make it workable/effective..without blowing
    the 30 amp fuse. There's stock fuse in mine.
    i drill cooling vents to the top and bottom of motor area.
    mount 12v mini/micro fan to keep the motors cool.
    whatever..the 570 motors are only $12 -ea......Not $100 from mltoys.
    You dont need a 24 volt charger...i made Y harness to the 12V power wheels
    charger or regular automobile charger....i have 24v razor chargers....either way
    I have wahzooo of stock power wheels 6 v and 12V batteries.
    whatever. I run power wheels on 18V
    i used to run 5s LIPO at 50C higher discharge. ( it has more power than the lion.)
    Invested $ 300 just for the batteries for the kids ( but I can use them on R/C toys too)
    5000mah pack ( 10-15 mins run time)...it was sort of pain to maintain battery
    charging for all the grand kids ( sometimes I'll have 5 cars running at the sametime)
    the nieghbors kids can play/drive with them too...

    How have the gears held up over the years now? Are the stock motors still going strong? I have twin boys getting these for there birthday in a few months, I’ve already done the lights and figuring what voltage I want to go with now

    So I am currently looking to do this to my kids raptor. Does it matter what battery and converter kit you go with? And I see some batteries have a higher AH, that just means longer run time?

    • @mosquitonkosak
      @mosquitonkosak  Před rokem

      Yes. The higher number on that means it can last longer.

    • @mosquitonkosak
      @mosquitonkosak  Před rokem

      Have you watched my video on the 12v to 24v on the jeep? It kinda explains it. If the raptor has anything else hooked into the battery such as lights, accessories, etc you can't do 24v cause it'll fry all of it. If it just powers the motors then you can. Watch that video and if you still need my help, lemme know and I'll make a video

    Been running my son's on Ryobi 18v with great success. Been thinking about doing some lights on it too before winter gets here and it gets dark at 6pm. What LEDs did you use? Does anyone know what size motors are on the wheels? I'm thinking about slapping some 775 motors on it but not sure if it'll be beneficial

    Hi have one that needs a battery and want to just convert it so basically if I didn't want lights I could just splice into the main wire harness and use ring connectors to go into the pos and neg. Of the drill battery with a fuse and fuss holder for the pos side and it will run?

    • @mosquitonkosak
      @mosquitonkosak  Před 2 lety

      It definitely should! Just make sure it's a 12v up to 24v going into a 12v power wheel.

    Hey man, I just picked up the same quad yesterday from offerup for $20. Only the reverse is working. The two forward speeds don't move but it lights up when I press down on the pedal, so I don't think I need a new pedal. Do you think it could be the motor or gear box?

    • @mosquitonkosak
      @mosquitonkosak  Před 2 lety +2

      Check all the wiring from the gear shifter to the motor and make sure it still works. If it works in reverse chance is the motor is fine. To test the motors, wire then directly to a battery and see if they spin.

    • @jennm1273
      @jennm1273 Před 2 lety

      This just happen to us to. The shifter has two switches underneath. I took the shifter apart and realigned the shifter and corrected position the switches should be. It fixed the problem but when my boys shift to fast it cuts out and they have to reshift slower.

    Can u just cut off the plug part that comes out the atv and splice the ends to o connecters and just put that in the drill battery?(I have a 24 volt dewalt). I also brought a charger from harbor and freight that came with o connector adapter. I was gonna cut those ends off and put them on the part where the plug use to be

    • @mosquitonkosak
