Pacifica, California is the best place for short getaway with a small-town feel. I LOVE PACIFICA.

Pacifica (Peaceful in Spanish) is a beachfront suburb south of San Francisco. It is famous for its beautiful coastline, breathtaking vistas, rocky bluffs and beaches. A surfer’s paradise. Hiking trails, wildlife spotting opportunities, amazing sunsets over the ocean, and the world’s most unique and beautiful Taco Bell location.

If you come early in the morning its less crowded. Its one of the city you can retire in. Lots of short hikes. Foggy often in the morning, but you have to go during the afternoon to see the sunset.

there are a bunch of clams near pacifica Beach. I think one needs a permit for clamming there.
