Americans please appreciate this man's videos every Damn video I watch says 70 c to 5 grams per 150 ml or something like that where he says it and explains how to do it here. I always Lookup other videos and spend so much doing conversions and then forget them every time plus the videos are 20 mins for one type he just explain how to do over 3 In 5 mins. Love these quick simple videos :)
I was looking for exactly that! Thank you!
I'm so glad you found the video then! By the way, today is the last day to save 10% off on our tea and teaware during our halloween sales: nioteas.com/collections/halloween-sales
Excellent video, thank you.
Great review! Thank you!
I really enjoy the flavor and color of Sencha tea leaves!
thank you! Im glad you liked it. Let me know if you have any questions about any of our Sencha teas
Great informative video! I learned a lot about brewing the different green tea varieties, and the second and possible third steeping of them!
Watching this video I understood why my bagged tea tastes like shit. The packaging also says that you should add boiling water and leave for 3 minutes...
Amazing video. Ty
Perfection - thank you! This should be the #1 video on how to make green tea.
Ok that was REALLY informative and well explained, now I'm brewing tea in a whole different way
I'm glad to hear you liked the video! Thank you so much for watching and let us know if you have any more questions
Thank you so much 👍👍

Great and concise little video. I think I've been doing some things wrong.
thank you for watching! There is no judgement, we all have to start somewhere and we just get a little better all the time!

I love tea 😍😍 i have a big tea garden
Im so glad to hear you like it! Thanks for watching our video. If you want to learn more about Japanese green tea, you can watch our full documentary here: czcams.com/video/8U3tT7tW_BI/video.html
I’ve always just made my green tea with the stove top kettle/boiling water. I liked it, but it was bitter. Then I got an electric kettle where I could control the temp of the water, and wow - what a difference. I’ve been drinking Rishi super matcha, mix of matcha and I think konacha, though it is a bag tea. Looking forward to trying more of the loose green teas I have.
I'm so glad you notice a difference! It is amazing how much better green tea tastes when you prepare it with a lower temperature. Let us know if you have any questions when preparing these teas. We would also love if you could try some of ours: nioteas.com/collections/sencha-tea
I just put them in a cup and pore kettle water on em with some sugar lol
I don't use bags tho I find them wasteful and an extra thing to worry about (they are sometimes dusty and need washing)
As an advent tea drinker, some cups I've made it just felt like it was either I drank too much or too little. I know when it comes to tea, people ask, "How can it be too little or too much?" But, I try to tell them, it's not how much is consumed, but whither if you're brewing it right.
I love green tea , especially with Manuka honey . I’m trying to get used to the taste of sencha rn lol
yes try to use a little less each time and eventually your taste buds will adapt
When do we add the sugar?
This is the video you are looking for!
I'm so glad you like the video! We have plenty of other videos on the production and preparation of green tea if you're interested
Hi! I have a quick question about what to do with your tea leaves after the first steeping? Do you leave them in the Kyusu throughout the day? And then come back to them when you want to make another cup? p.s. love you guys and all the information you provide!
yes that's exactly what we do! thanks so much for watching, we're really glad you enjoy the videos
@@twillyamsI'm no food scientist, but it probably is due to microbial growth, although oxidation can also spoil tea leaves.
Hi! I just started drinking tea and got a Gyokuro to try out. Used the ratios this video suggests and brewed 3 infusions, didn't recall correctly so brewed at 70 degrees.
After some time I got caffeine high? I don't know but spent the afternoon with anxiety and what not. Is this normal? Should I start with a low caffeine tea first before getting into something like Gyokuro? thanks!
yes this is a high caffeine tea with about as much caffeine as a cup of coffee. The theanine seems to help most people avoid this jittery or anxious feeling, but it is possible to still have too much. I guess you should start out with a lower caffeine tea. The Karigane Sakamoto is good because it has a similar flavor with much less caffeine
Does anyone know about brewing the famous Nilgiris tea(Indian) ..pls do advice if anyone knows..
I have a question that I feel silly to ask because I think I'm missing something really basic. I'm used to brewing black English teas at home 1 cup at a time, so with my electric kettle it's a straight forward process of almost always 1 tsp of leaves into a strainer and after heating the cup I just add the strainer and fill the whole cup with water, wait, remove, and drink directly.
I want to try making some of these Japanese green teas as well and the directions are more drastically different in ratio then I expected, like 210mL to 2 Tbsp of leaves. How do you measure the water you use when brewing like this? Usually I hear over a liter in the electric kettle and fill the cup, but no way it does a quantity as small as .2L. Do you actually pour into a glass measuring cup first and then the pot? I think I'm missing something basic.
after awhile I just start to eyeball it, it doesn't need to be completely exact. You can start with half a cup
I have a question. I’m born in America . We drink a full cup of tea . Is it ok to drink that one pot of tea . Love your video learned a lot
Do you use any measuring tools? For instance, digital thermometer for checking the temp.
yes the most important is measuring the temperature of the water (we use an electric kettle with built in thermometer) everything else can be measured out using estimation
@@jtan7241 you don't need a very fancy one, just whatever one you can find that had temperature control
can you do a 2nd infusion with all teas or just with gyokuro?
you can do a 2nd and 3rd infusion with all high quality teas I can think of (of course teabags don't count as they are low quality and designed to infuse quickly) but some teas can be infused many more times that that
How about matcha? For the second and third infusion, is the temperature of the water is the same as the first?
matcha dissolves in water when brewing so you drink all of it, there is no second or third infusion (same as instant coffee)
Are these available in the UK and where can i buy the teapot from please
yes! We can ship them to you for free: nioteas.com/collections/japanese-kyusu-teapot
Uhg i just want to learn the temp and time steeping on the MOST COMMON GREEN TEA the popular one, and it wasn't mentioned idk what those rest herbs are 😢
these are all different types of green teas! They just require different temperatures depending on the leaves and the processing. If you want a standard brewing you can try 160F for 1 minute
Quick question - How do I know when the ater has 70°???
It's common practice to pour the boiling water into a cup to let it cool before adding it to the leaves in the pot. You can also use a simple meat thermometer.
What about "regular non japanese green tea" ratio and steeping time?
I would try it with the same ratio! It works pretty well for every type of tea
On your video you state for fukamuchi sensha use 5 g, 150 ml water, 70 C, first brew 45 s, then 20 s for second and third brew. In your web site you state use 60 C. On the package which holds tea it states 65 C. So I am confused about temperature of brewing.
yes you're right, we need to stick to one temperature. I personally like 60 degrees C because fukamushi Sencha is easy to overbrew
I wonder what % of caffine is released in a minute
Is it also ok to use a 200 ml clay tea pot?
yes it is, this is the kind we sell on our website nioteas.com. You can get one for free when you sign up for the monthly tea club: nioteas.com/products/monthly-tea-club-with-free-red-kyusu
Where can I buy that black tea pot?
you can get it on our website: nioteas.com/collections/japanese-teaware-and-japanese-tea-accessories
Where can I find the thing that made the tea?
we have the teaware on our website! You can get them for a really good deal in certain tea bundles
Question ❓... Can green tea 🍵 be brewed in a gaiwan???
yes it can! For me it is difficult to brew with smaller leaf teas because they pass through into the cup but some people like this method
Where do I get the tea pot
you can get one for free when you sign up for the monthly tea club! its on our website nioteas.com
Amazon Japan ships international, but I haven't seen many pots there as nice as these.
@@Nioteas my order just arrived without the tea pot today, kind of dissapointing and I hope I can get it figured out
@@aydensmith8859 yes there was an issue with some of the orders, please send us an email and we will fix it!
Your hands have small tremors, had too much caffeine or is it a condition?
5 grams for 5 fluid ounces?!? I use 4 grams for 12 ounces!! You guys are nuts
yes its a really concentrated tea that you drink in small sips. Try it out and see how you like it!
@@Nioteas willing to try everting again least once… I don’t understand how you’ve gotten the teas “so green”. Perhaps better quality leaves or the amount used?
@@weslegna its more to do with the type of tea. We really like the Fukamushi Sencha which happens to have a really intense green color to it. Not necessarily "better" than a high quality yellowish green tea but just very different flavor
What you er using is a teaspoon not a tablespoon, use said to use a tablespoon ,what u r demonstrating with is a teaspoon
Japanese Green Tea?? lol
Can we heat the water in the teapot?
I just bought a ceramic teapot for the first time. Whats the best way to heat the teapot? Electric stove? Over a fire? Or some other way???
I would not heat the teapot directly but use a water heater to bring the water to temperature and then brew the leaves inside the teapot
Your review in the end is fantastic, You are a great teacher
