I preferred lates when I was a bus driver! Earliest left me exhausted and lates are busy for the first few hours but then smooth sailing through the night!đ
I love the earlys better to get it out the way
That Yorkshire Bus Driver yeah most people seem to prefer earlies. And it is good being finished at a reasonable time but I find when I get home all I wanna do is sleep lol. With lates I like getting the busy bit of the shift over and done with then itâs easy going.
SingleDeckerMichael Early shifts are better as long as you donât live an hours drive from your Depot like me đ
@@ThatBusDriverKane I agree there That Bus Driver Kane, I drive buses in the Wirral and I'm about 1hour 15mins car journey to and from work so if I'm in for 0605 I get up at 4am and leave at 4:45.
I love the earlies but then again I'm lucky to live 10 minutes walk from my garage! đđ»
â@@ThatBusDriverKane hello đ xx
Great job Michael, from a bus drivers perspective your bang on,seems we all have to grin and bare all that goes on in a day, however it sure keeps life interesting, peace and calm to all who spin the big wheel for a living.
Thanks for the video mate loved it. I always wanted to see something like this out of curiosity.
Thanks mate. Ive my assignment day this Tuesday and your vid has been a great help. Cheers.
I was on benefits for two months at the start of the year. It's 400 a month, and you don't get anything till the second month. I was literally eating one bowl of porridge every other day.
Working now, but I'm guessing the lady who didn't want to pay was unemployed? The levels of poverty you can reach very quickly when you out of work can't be underestimated.
Have you ever thought to quit cigs?
Heating in saloon bad in a lot of buses
đŻ can't keep up.with gas prices 2024 and people living in povertyđąđąđąđą
Great video! I really like the 261! Also Happy New Year!
Iâm on a 4 day week and always are on middle shifts usually. So I really enjoy it.
OMG.. Started watching the video, thought.. he's not in London.. then noticed your 1st bus.. the 261.. one of my local routes!
Great video Michael. Hope you & your family have a safe & awesome New Year. đđđđđđđ»
Sarah Cornelius and the same to you and yours âșïž
@@singledeckermichael8608 thank you đđđŸđ
Iâm thinking of applying for a trainee bus driver job local to me. One thing that keeps putting me off is what you do if you need to use the toilet. Trying to be polite I donât have a weak bladder but I do go fairly often. Sorry for the strange question and comment
So you have a weak bladder if you need to go fairly often đ€Ł
â@@KieransBetshis medical will.suss that out need medication
Study your bus routes, there will be toilets on route or even at the terminus or start point of a route. Many bus routes go through a supermarket like Tesco no shame in delaying 5 minutes for a toilet break just announce to passengers the bus will be stopping for 5 minutes.
Interesting video! Respect for anyone who does a job where they have to deal with the public. I hope you're doing well.đ
I really hate the beeping noise in those enviros like when your driving and it makes random noises like telling you its cold outside and just continues to beep
they have there pros and cons
Agree with you there especially when it does it completely out of nowhere makes you think something is wrong with the bus
@@Srevelation yeah its kind of embarrassing.. and then you do break down, of most buses I've driven the enviros have the most problems always breaking down or something wrong, to be fair at our garage there poorly maintained so that's a reason why there quite bad!

Nice production Michael đđ
@Robot Rocks11_f1 ...Yes it was good to finally meet up with Michael! đ
You should do a day in the life, I know itâs hard with your social media rules at work but it would be great.
I was just saying to my wife I wonder what Anton thinks of this channel then we saw your comment đ
@@jimi4906 ...thanks lol đ
Anton why dont you move to stagecoach bus company
I Really like your video, keep up the good work. Keep safe and look after yourself. I'm also a bus worker for London bus preservation trust in Cobham Hall
I live in Kent. Our buses are operated by Arriva. On their buses the heating seems to be on all the year round. I used to live on a route that went out into the middle of nowhere. When the bus got to my stop which was the station we could wait up to five mins to catch up the time.
Paul Whitear I live in Kent too, but I donât have an Arriva bus. Sadly itâs Hams Travel.
Love that you consider a 6yr old bus to be old.... Where i am, we're still running 52plate Tridents and Volvo saloons, our 'newer' buses are 12 plate Volvo B9's.
No
Very nice coffee machine
Thank you Michael đ Great to see your Video and your calm laid back approach to being a Bus Driver âI noticed you mentioned about the Princess Royal Hospital, so are you based at Bromley Garage on the Hastings Road, working for stagecoach â I myself have just applied to be a Bus Driver with Stagecoach for that Depot, Now have been given a Interview
For this Tuesday at canning Town , London, Have you any Tips for the Interview and what can I expect from it
Much appreciated James.
Ohh wow great video
In Bristol it is ÂŁ4.50for an adults day rider and ÂŁ2.50 for a childâs day rider and theyâre still trying to put the prices up !
Dang, my guy be driving me around without realising.
Pffft 12 plate ainât old for a bus where I live. My school route is operated by First Kernow and is often run on 51 plate Dennis Trident/Plaxton President buses!
They always use crap buses on the school run
As a former bus driver, lot of situations with customers being rude, abusive, offensive or anti social l find happen to be awkward and daunting. For example, when someone dont want to pay the journey buisness fare then you gotta politely, calmly on top of that ask this certain someone nicely that you cant come on bus and have to kindly step off. If that same someone argues, and take seat without paying then tell them l not going nowhere, until you get off. If that someone then dont get off, you have to tell them that they now banned from stagecoach, also you will call police if they dont corporate and that make more people on you bus impatient also angry because of time delay, however sadly apart of stagecoach rules and policy means drivers have got to remain in cabin and lialise with police in these non paying loonies tresspassing times of situations, and anti social profanity times causing other customers to be upset times of day. Only time driver can leave cabin is when assisting a disabled person in wheelchair to deploy ramp, or first aid, fire emergencies. Those all in all, are three situations that lawfully permits drivers to leave cabin and that having smoke off list, going to toilet which all should be done on you brake times etc. Passengers on-board are not just customers, their driver responsibility and having handsfree device installed with bluetooth headset on you ear provided by stagecoach or you own headset as is life saving and goes tremendously well if stagecoach did that for majority of drivers! Sad that we dont even get GPS sat navigations with live feed traffic on majority of buses, that to would work tremendously well when dealing with emergency calls, etc congestion and route closures!
re fare evasion , what you've said is counter to everything that stagecoach tell you to do in training and in the red book.
99% of the buses at my local depot are enviro 400 and the heating works in the passenger compartments even on the top deck
Light aircraft buggy lol, true
12 plate bus old!?... The old buses I used to drive were 20- 30 years old! Lol. Youâre spoilt in London đ
Thourghly enjoyed the video. Nice scottish accent. Hope your stil with the buses. Avid enthusiast.
1.50... in Leeds the fair is 2.50 for a child's day rider and 4.50 for adults day rider. This is with first Leeds a single from my stop to town is 3.40 without a blue mcard
...its very expensive Jake! I remember when driving in west Yorkshire that the fares were expensive!
Old bus m8 you must have upset the inspector BLAKEYđđđđđđ
đđ I like it
I'm stagecoach on Teesside. I've a 5.12 start tomorrow. Respect brother!
Michael Flanagan haha oh dear, enjoy getting up at zombie o clock đđ
Great isn't it!!!
â@@singledeckermichael8608 you and Taylor and mike is my favourite person xxxx
â@@singledeckermichael8608 I love your videos xxxxxxx
What do you do when somebody doesn't want to pay and just walks on and sits down? That would get my blood boiling lol
Happy New year to you buddy. I'm back on 7th Jan on 336 middle shifts all week. Started on 261 then route learned 336 on 20th but was then on hol from 22nd Dec. The joys of being a loan driver
paul oates happy new year to you too buddy. Do you know 146? I have it tomorrow and never done it before.
No buddy. Only there for 6mth from plumstead. Started Dec on 261, got 336 on 7th but only route learned it and never drove it. Looks like it'll be a mysterytour lol
sometimes I liked early mornings but not too early for me.
lol i was born at princess royal - its right by my dads house as well
ÂŁ1.50 single fare v Hopper Fare, so pleased that I have the 60+ Oyster Card, itâs like a Freedom Pass, ÂŁ20 from TfL when I reached 60.
Iâm a bus driver here in Cali. Donât have to wear a tie so far lol.
Bus fare for us here is A dollar
I love to drive the optare solos to be honest
Iâm a bud driver in DublinâŠ. Fare evasion is on an epidemic scale
For comparison, our fare in NYC is $2.75. And it is going up again soon. A monthly or weekly unlimited metro card takes the price down a bit if you use it often enough. Do drivers get paid a higher rate for working very early or very late hours? They do that here, and also as an incentive to take the midnight shift đ€Ș.
Jeffrey Ornstein it varies depending on which company you work for. Some get an âunsocial hoursâ allowance for early mornings and late evenings. Others just have a standard, higher, hourly rate which is the same across the whole day, but night shifts tend to pay more and have dedicated drivers who do them permanently.
â@@singledeckermichael8608 I really like to drive buses 1 day I love to đđđđđđđđđđxx
In Somerset itâs ÂŁ1.80 CHILD ticket for under 3 miles!!! ÂŁ3.50 adult
â€
ye it is ÂŁ1.70 for a single and ÂŁ3.50-ÂŁ5.50 for a day rider in Arriva North West
Great video mate
Enviro 400's heating is always breaking down. Its basically junk.
I don't mind working. Nights or days. In whatever your doing .
ÂŁ1.50 no matter how long the journey is? Damn itâs like ÂŁ5 here
I think this would be better called âTHE LIFE OF A BUS DRIVER(Morning/Early Shift)â
Jasonâs Transport & Gaming Videos this was an easy title to put when uploading from my phone. I may change it when I get on my PC.
ÂŁ2.5 for a day rider in Yorkshire with a pass. ÂŁ5 for an adult ticket
I share your pain. Early shifts all week for me at stagecoach. Starting 0330. Great.
Gareth Braint ugh thatâs nasty. Iâd much rather have a lie in, Go to work later, get the busy bit out the way then itâs nice and quiet for the rest of my shift đ
@@singledeckermichael8608 yep. Totally agree with you. I'd be happy if I could choose one duty and do it all the time so you could get in a routine. Shift work is ok but the starting hours are usually so random from day to day!
How are you xxx
Itâs ÂŁ 3.90 for a single to Chesterfield
I like earlies more than lates. Which garage are you at? I'm at Rugby in Warwickshire
Thatâs not fair we pay ÂŁ4.00 for our busses
Very nice video!!
Are you type trained for the new E400 MMC Smart hybrids? And if so, what's your opinion on them?
GEORGE on buses yes I am. Iâve only driven one very briefly on the first day they were out on the road. I like them but then again I like anything thatâs new lol. Braking is smooth, theyâre pretty nippy pulling away. The stop/start is an absolute pain but I knew what to expect with that having driven the B14 buses which have it. But yeah, I like them đ
@@singledeckermichael8608 cool! I quite like them! There cool! It was weird seeing them when they first entered service on 474. Coz there mainly diesel with a euro 6 voith engine. They also sound like washing machines lol! I do need to get the Bromley ones tho! I have only been on the west ham ones and Bellingham ones!
I was quite surprised as I was under the impression all new buses had to be hybrid or electric. Obviously not!
@@singledeckermichael8608 so was I. I was confuse when I got on it. When we heard that 474 was getting new Enviro 400 MMC, we all thought it would be the ones on the 161 but instead, they feel like the 169 MMC. (Barking garage)
GEORGE on buses Theyâre nice to drive, Start Stop is a pain in the arse when your trying to make up time when late. Overall very smooth, and as for Saloon heating..... what saloon heating??? Lol.
I feel this is bery unique filming on busses not like the norm of food eating channels? i can see you doing good from youtube.đ
Where I live the return fare for a destination only 2 miles away is ÂŁ4-70,would not mind paying ÂŁ1-50.
Where I am there only single deckers
Enviro 400âs are good, any bus is better than a Wrongbus streetshite
ÂŁ2.70 for an Adult Single Trip where i'm from up North, I'm glad i have a car lol
ÂŁ1.50 so cheap! Where I live itâs ÂŁ7.40 per day return ticket itâs maybe a 12/14 minute journey
i love my free bus pass
fair play to you mate. Great way to earn a decent living. great insightful video and i dont have any interest in buses!! just stumbled across it, great vid!
Thank you for your kind words! It's great to hear as I am trying to make videos which will appeal to people who don't have an interest in buses as well as those who do. I think there are a few negative perceptions of bus drivers around, and one of the great things about doing these videos is that I and the other bus drivers on CZcams can show the human side of the profession.
SingleDeckerMichael hey mike funnily enough I have a question. I just went down to my local bus stop to see if my girlfriends local train destination is still current on the 2019 timetable, but theyâve completely taken it off! Who out of interest is responsible for the additions and alterations to bus schedules ? Cheers.
dom bizkit do you mean whoâs responsible for the timetable information displayed at bus stops? If so, it depends where you live. In London, itâs Transport for London. Elsewhere it can be the local authority or the bus company themselves.
SingleDeckerMichael cheers man, I live just north of Brighton, itâs probably the company themselves cheers mate.
If they feel a destination isnât popular theyâd take a destination off wouldnât they? Cheers maye
Yes if itâs not getting enough passengers they will reduce or remove the service. Thatâs what happens when you put private companies in charge of a public service. We have Maggie Thatcher to thank for that đ€Ź
I thought you just driven Singal decker thatâs a double decker
How long ya been doing it fella
ÂŁ5.60 for Arriva North East haha
Enviro 400 are rubbish. We got the 68 plate mmc beautiful bus slow but comfortable
I donât see how Londoners can complain about ÂŁ1.50. Iâm always happy to pay the ÂŁ1.50 considering I pay ÂŁ2.90 to go to my town for a single and ÂŁ4.20 to get back. Itâs ridiculous and I donât think some Londoners realise how fortunate they are
Which depot u based out off
Try being a truck driver. Working over 70 hrs a week. Sleeping in a tin can, shit pay . But at least my load doesn't talk back to me or spit at me.
Should've paid attention in school u bjm
Is London the only place that Stagecoach have E40D's? All other depots seem to have Scanias or the 1st generation E400..
Adam Berry seems like it,i absolute hate those Voith shites...
Absolutely tonnes do, I can name: Mansfield, Worksop, Chesterfield, Barnsley, Manchester all off the top of my head ;)
@@MTVvids They have scanias and 2006-9 e400s
@@adamberry906 They do, but every single one that I listed also have E40D MMCs
@@MTVvids Ah yes... However, I'm talking about the standard E40D that Michael was driving! :)
It would be a good job if it had no passengers even boarding cats would be more positive đ
Hi
Are you still bus driving?
Why are you driving a Double Decker if your your single decker Michael?? đđđ
Phone Daft cos Iâve changed routes since I created the channel đ
SingleDeckerMichael But you shouldnât be driving a Double decker if your single decker Micheal. đđđ Single deckers only!!
Phone Daft correct. Iâll tell them đ
@@singledeckermichael8608 what route do you drive now?
I love stagecoach we go on them every other weekend Stagecoach is the best
Iâve got an interview with stagecoach trainee role what is the interview process like?
How did you get on?
@@JaySamurai79 it went well got the job and I passed my medical exclamation just need to keep revising for my theory test and Iâm waiting for my provisional pcv license to come đđż
@@TyroneEntertainingJoseph congrats bro. I did my theory and hazard test on Thursday, and my case study test on Friday just gone. Yeah just keep revising. In the test they might change the wording a little in some questions so just be aware. With the case study at certain times you might have to work out if it's EC or domestic hours.
So as an example it will say John has been driving his local double decker bus in town for 5 and a half hours, what is his minimum break? 30mins. The key words that indicate John's under domestic hours is "local, double decker, and town" So just try to be familiar with EC and domestic regulations on your case study revision and don't rush the answers. Theory test is what it is. Good luck bro, I hope that helps.
@@JaySamurai79 thanks for your reply
There is no interview process.. it's a dead end "I failed school" job. They tell u why u want to be a bus driver and then you pass the "interview". They're desperate for drivers they'll accept anyone. No one stays at these type of jobs
do you drive the 320?
Different companies
Go Ahead London
Please đđ„ș be good for all
I hate you butlerđđđđđ
Stagecoach bus
Say if i get 0 GCSES lol can i still become a bus driver
whether or not you still want to know... you don't need anything other than your licence for a year
How much do you get payed being a bus driver
We get ÂŁ12.80 here in South London arriva
Every one in London makes me laugh when they donât wonât to pay ÂŁ1.50 or moan they have to wait for more then 5 minutes for bus if the come 40 minutes out of London to Guildford were most fares are at least ÂŁ1:50 for just one fare stage and the cap at 3:50 for a ticket like that you are looking at ÂŁ9 for a day and most routes that go out of town are only every hour to 90 minutes
Where I live in UK a trip from one side of city to the other is 1.80 and
buses are every 10 mins but 12 or 8 for different routes
I have a 60+ Oyster Card, so no longer have to pay in London, it acts as a Freedom Pass, it was ÂŁ20 from TfL, slightly over 2.5 years ago, I will be 63 in February 2019.
Needles to say I donât give a bollox

Older the bus the better the bus nicer to drive better than the streetshites...
