- Youngstown Studio's B.J. Lisko is an avid AC/DC fan, and so is All Elite Wrestling star and FOZZY frontman Chris Jericho! In this interview, B.J. asked Chris to pick his top 3 Brian Johnson-era AC/DC albums.
Back in 2021, Lisko started a book on Brian Johnson-era AC/DC. That material has since been farmed out to a variety of publications and websites, but several of the video interviews will soon be making their way to the Youngstown Studio CZcams channel.

Nice to hear flick of the switch get some love. I've always deeply appreciated that album.
Flick of the switch is killer. Nervous Shakedown and Bedlam are awesome. The live performance of Fly on the wall from 1985 in my opinion is their hardest/best live performance of any song.
No truer words have ever been spoken . AC/DC is the best band of all time .
This is wild. Agree entirely with playing Guns For Hire or any Flick material - such an underrated album!
Facts.
As a massive AC/DC & wrestling fan, I gotta give props to Jericho for his respect for Flick Of The Switch, which is my favourite Brian Johnson AC/DC album.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Actually one thing stopped after Bon died was playing pubs in Sydney when they came home briefly every summer using pseudonyms and George Young on bass as Cliff Williams wasn't around being a Pom.
Flick was always one of my favourites. Bedlam in Belgium I think is so good Fack bud
It's great to hear some discussion about Flick, Fly and BUYV for a change...those albums have their issues with mixing/production, but there are SO many great songs on them. It's criminal (it ought to be a law) that AC/DC have completely neglected those albums for 33 years now. Malcolm and Angus must REALLY have not liked how they turned out.
As a die hard AC/DC fan, there are several cuts from those albums I'd love to hear them do live. It would even be cool if they just brought back "Who Made Who." They tried doing that one briefly on the "Ballbreaker" tour, but it was cut after the first few dates and hasn't been played since. Brian, in particular, has said he still really likes that track, though.
1:13-1:24 I respectfully disagree with Chris on Bon not being able to reach mainstream success, if Bon hadn't passed away and continued with the band, AC/DC had five studio albums up to that point with Bon, that are considered classics to this day. High Voltage, Let There Be Rock, Dirty Deeds, Powerage, and Highway to Hell. I think that what happened was that Brian entered into the band when it was firing on all cylinders, after the success of Highway to Hell. Brian had the voice that was needed for the group and the fans were willing to give Brian a chance and he succeeded. I think AC/DC still would have been mainstream regardless if Bon hadn't died, for a few reasons.
1. Bon's songs are still on their concert setlist to this day .
2. Bon was more of a frontman than you think, he and Angus were more like a duo back in 77-79 period, Bon carrying Angus on his shoulders while Angus played, Bon talked a bit more and flashed that grin of his, he also took his shirt off, Bon certainly had enough of a stage presence to do that in a theatre that holds 3,000-5000 and to do that again in a stadium of 10,000 - 50,000 people. Bon made himself known.
3. Bon was synonymous with the rock and roll lifestyle, and what the bands music was all about.
4. Bon didn't need to be as personable as Brian, he just needed to deliver on stage. Freddie Mercury for example, awesome frontman totally captivating on stage, off stage completely private, but I do think that Bon would have liked the attention and would go to the Grammy's or some celebrity event to promote AC/DC from time to time. He was always the most out going of any other member, they may not have sold as many albums as they did with Brian on Back in Black, but I find it hard to believe that they would have lost any commercial success if Bon was still alive. Fans to this day, still wonder what Back In Black would have sounded like with Bon. This isn't being said to discredit Brian's contribution at all to the band, it's just Bon had given them the momentum to break through.
Their greatest success has been with Brian Johnson. I remember Bon well and he was great. For me top three are Back In Black, Flick of the Switch and Powerage. but I love them all. ⚡️ 🍻
I agree...but powerage slightly below let there be rock....close though
1) flick of the switch
2) back in black
3) for those about to rock
Brian Era:
1. Flick Of The Switch
2. For Those About to Rock
3. Fly On The Wall
Love all this from Chris, and love you adore those 3 albums like myself, , my Top 3 Brian Alums would be Back in Black, Ballbreaker and Power Up 👌
Been a Superfan since 76 seen em live on all tour since then 48 times met Bon Angus Malcolm Brian Phil Cliff numerous times too , known and loved them longer than my children 😂🤣😅😈💯🔥
Guns for Hire is incredibly voice challenging song. Brian can't pull it anymore. It's a brillaint one though.
a band from the same city, INXS, did a video for every song from Full Moon Dirty Hearts in 93. Not sure ive seen that from a major band before or since.
Back in Black For Those About To Rock Power Up
Why the dislike for Bedlam in Belgium? Its lyrics are great! They tell the true story of an incident where cops raided a show and jumped on the stage with guns, yet the band played on. What's more rock n roll than that? Also Brian is so great on it, it's just a solid tune.
Also the Touch Too Much background vocals are Bon layering himself. Chris is pretending like Mutt Lange created them without the band involved--he's wrong about so many things. The background vocals have ALWAYS been mostly Malcolm and Cliff (with Bon or Angus rarely pitching in, and now Brendan helping out)--it has never been "Malcolm and Angus". Also the Flick of the Switch cover is great, and the lack of love for side 2 of that album (and no mention of Ballbreaker, where Brian reigns supreme) is criminal.
'Bedlam In Belgium' IMO has the hardest scream Brian ever did. The 'third world war' line.
Listen to snowballed
@@mufflersponge8969 Listen to "Shake a Leg". Brian's vocals are crazy.
I disagree somewhat. Had Bon lived, I think he would have gone on to a different project or retired completely, based on a documentary I watched, he seemed to get restless from time to time. Bon may have wanted the spotlight, but the Youngs were just happy to not have actual jobs and do what they enjoyed and still ate. The band may have then developed a cult following, and filled a very niche space within Rock N Roll, and they would be completely fine with that. My reasons for saying so is in my opinion, they are the greatest example of not getting above your raisings, working class to the core,.and how relatively speaking, the fine details of their personal lives remain private. Brian may have been more commercially appealing, aesthetically pleasing, but even he remains down to earth. I've heard it said of AC/DC, they are the garage/bar band that made it big, and I think their attitude and approach reflect that today.
Great interview!
Disagree on all of the stuff about Axl. But i love all the appreciation for Brian. He doesn't get enough love from people
Van Halen had 2 diamond selling albums with DLR, they never did with Sammy Hagar. Do that is flat out wrong.
Well, he's referring to the fact that all albums with Sammy went to # 1 & none of the albums with Dave did. I think 1984 went to #2, which surprises me because it's by far the worst album with Dave
Bons voice wouldn’t have carried over into the early 80’s where heavy metal was getting huge. Brian’s voice was able to make that transition
Would've been interesting to see for sure. Bon was hinting at wanting to do a solo album the time of his passing. I think he would've branched out after what became the "Back In Black" record.
Im curious to what a Bon Scott solo album would sound like. Injabe a feeling it would have been a lot more varied , and alot less heavy.

Flick of the Switch is very under-rated. Fly on the Wall however....
The triple threat of Brian’s legacy.
1) BACK IN BLACK
2) FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK…WE SALUTE YOU.
3) FLICK (FUCK) OF THE SWITCH
Of course the Bon Scott era was a different beast altogether.
The band during the Scott years was untouchable. More energy during the days of ‘76-79 on stage.
Brian is 76 years old not 73 and will be 77 in October and they do downtune to Eb ( 1 fret and have done for years ) Axl sang in Standard E
Who made who was 86
Brian's always been underappreciated but as for saying Bon couldn't sing in a stadium, dear oh dear! THAT'S RIDICULOUS! and he did it when they first went to the US. And if you think rock and roll is about filling stadiums, God help you! And that's why Brian 'sings' like that anyway!
I'd like to know how Jericho thinks that Van Halen was much, much more successful than the original lineup. The '78 - '84 era sold a lot more records than the Sammy era. Whereas the Sammy era only did better on the charts. I don't know about you, but record sales are far more important than chart positions.
Not true about van halen , they were bigger with dave , look up the diamond status of 1984 , sammy for some reason in his book claims they were bigger with him and everybody runs with it , its simply not true , criticly and fan wise the dave era is preferred as well and more impactuful , both are great but the dave era with the more guitar focus combined with keyboard in the end was the stand out era ,
Chris! Listen up! There's a TRULY REMARKABLE AC/DC cover band that goes by THUNDERSTRUCK: AMERICAS AC/DC, you've got to see them! They play some FLICK OF THE SWITCH songs!
Dave outsold Sammy, do your homework before you make such a statement....
Bon Scott was better 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Bon was better that's the bottom line.
What?
The Razors Edge was excellent
