    Hot racing spur and tekno pinion. The pinion has a 2.5 hex and a flat bottom grub screw so it doesn't keep sliding so you can get more torque to keep it tight.

    After disassembling the cushion spur gear, check that there is no problem with the urethane part.
    Make sure the motor mount position lock dowel position for the gear dimension is correct.
    Check that the motor mount fixing bolts are securely tightened.

    Mine was a bad motor that was warranted. Within 3 months motor was starting a gring noise. Ran on 6s first then bought the 8s batteries and dual charger, after using 8s second run stripped all but 5 total left on spur and pinion. I kept hearing a slight grind after even though getting all stripped teeth out. The one thing I didnt check was the motor which was already going out. And I dont bash my xmaxx just the smaller stuff. Needless t ok say, glad there is a warranty. New Motown was put in.

    I had that problem too, my local hobbyshop didn't find a solution, eventually we changed the rear chassis/bulkhead and now I don't have any problem

    recheck your pin settings and make sure there 100% in the "Right Letter's" on both sides or "Change Chassis Bulk Head"....
    Last but, not least "Contact Traxxas" at this point it's becoming a "Lemon Law!!!!" and have them send you a "New" 1 or replace the parts for "Free!!!!"

    I throttled it to me then let off to crawl and stop, it would catch and wobble front to back and if pulled forward would drag the tires. Reverse was fine. If you still have a warranty and come across that problem take advantage of it at least till the warranty is up. If you go through Traxxas it will take forever, go through LHS you purchased from, and the gears they should have upgraded for 8s strip or like mine overtighten a spur from the factory breaking the hole and splitting spur from hole through the top of the spur. Traxxas told me " ya that happens just buy another.? If rated 8s WHY WOULD YOU NOT PUT REAL STEEL? I have a couple 6s that the spur and pinion are stronger that the Xmaxx. And 400-500 cheaper.

      Thx for the messages. Its sounds like you were very unlucky with your rig. Fortunately mine did last for a year before I had all these issues with gears. My gears kept on breaking was because the spur setup was not right. I didn't think I had warranty so I didn't try to make a claim. Now that I have changed my spur setup and put a brand new bearing in with new stronger gears touch wood, its been good 👍
      I am happy that at least traxxas offered you some support it trying to help fix your problem.

My Local Hobbytown helped me and put in a new one since I Register all my RCs for the warranty. And keep ALL receipts. You LHS can look you up but call traxxas and they want your receipt.

      @@tonysmith7989 sorry dude I misunderstood... traxxas need to update the xmaxx now...its been too long. They should make an extreme bash version with all the traxxas hop ups on there...like better steering servo, stronger gears, stronger arms. You buy these separately but I don't see why you should have to. This is not a cheap rig. It should break straight away🙁
      hope you got yours sorted now.👍

      @@inspiredrc finally yessir. But will just run it as a big toy. The 3s and 6s are cheaper to fix and have had little to no electronic problems, well except for the typhon 3s. All but the fans have been warranted out and with EVERYTHING spektrum on backorder, had 2runs out of the first 6mnths, servo out second run, 4mnths after getting servo in 1st run, motor seized. They should have stayed with the arrma electronics. Almost got burnt out. And may let go of at least 2 of the 8.

      Is 20/50 okay for the Xmaxx? I’m really confused, my manual says not to use it on stock electronics but they started using it in the XRT and Xmaxx Ultimate and they got the same electronics so 🤷🏻‍♂️. Maybe they changed their mind lol. Would you say that’s the best gearing and have you had any heat issues or anything with it?

    Was having the same problem. Switched to gds 46t spur still running the Traxxas 18t pinion with Loctite. Took out the pins and set the mesh myself. Seems ok so far. Get the Traxxas motor mount washers, they go underneath on the 4 mount bolts, even come in blue, what I got to match my rock n roll xmaxx. Will keep the motor from pulling screws through the chassis. I broke my fan blade also lol. Do you know if the fans are 30 or 35mm? Ordered the castle creations twin fans because I couldn’t find replacement fans. Can yall help me please 😂… what’s your favorite gear ratio? Just got my first one and I’m wanting to upgrade to hardened steel gears. Should I still with the stock 18/54 or go 18/46 or 18/50 or what y’all prefer? lol, I know it’s somewhat preference but I just wanna bash safely on my electronics, which is probably stock but I’ve seen a lot of ppl say 20/50 gearing is best. • @inspiredrc
      @inspiredrc  Před 3 lety +1

      I will buddy. Unfortunately I've already filmed part 2 and don't think I showed the mesh in that vid. I have triple checked the mesh and for me they was just the right amount of slop. Isn't the pin system there to set the mesh for you? I made sure the pins were in the right holes for the gear ratio...
