I can't think of a bad role that Martin Short has done. He always brings joy and laughter where ever he goes.
I'm watching "Only Murders in the Building" and the cast Gomez, Martin and Short work so well, that the only thing I hate is waiting a week for the next episode. Thankfully they make the wait worth it.
Martin has never, I think, had scandal or critics of his character. Such a talented, cool,funny man.
I enjoyed Martin Short as Preminger in Barbie as Princess and the Pauper, it’s one of my favorite voice roles he’s ever done .

Mine is in 2012 when Martin Short went along with Kathie Lee Gifford's questions about his wife, who passed away in 2010. Martin Short didn't call Kathy Lee out on the gaffe at all. Total top draw A1 class act. He made me very proud to be a fellow Canadian that day
Yeah. He taught me a lesson that day as I was yelling at Gifford, through the screen, in a NOT complimentary fashion and his grace toward her absolutely shamed me when I took time to reflect on his manner toward her.
I honestly thought they would include that clip during the section on his wife. Though it's fine that they didn't too.

Martin Short’s guest appearance as a scam psychic who was actually a kidnapper on L&O:SVU was also a great show of how vile and evil he could be. And it definitely should have had an honorable mention on this list.

Yes indeed. I kept waiting for that performance as a serial rapist obsessed with virgins, to show up on this list. His portrayal of evil was astounding.

I love Martin Short, he's not just a funny guy, but he's so good at what he does, like MsMojo mentioned he's able to do more than a comedic role and stand out in it. I have too many favorite movies with him in it, but one that was not mentioned is Pure Luck, that one had me cracking up and not just the part where his character got severely stung and balloons up. He, Robin Williams, Steve Martin, John Ritter, Chevy Chase and a few others will always remain my favorite comedians, actors and in general people....they all seem very down to earth and genuine and I love people like that.
How was Martin Short’s role on SVU not mentioned? It still gives me chills to this day!! He was so amazing in that role it was truly terrifying!! 😳😳😳

Omg, he was so great in The Santa Clause 3. We usually watch the 1st and 3rd every year a few times. Who am I kidding? We watch the 2nd one too, just not as often. LOL

Merlin should be numbered. I watched Merlin four times just to watch his 5-6 roles there.
I love Martin Short as a bumbling but good natured fairy godmother in “A Simple Wish”. This was how I was introduced to him and fell in love with his charms. And since then I watched out for his other roles; his character in Law and Order surprised me as I never suspected that he could act in dramatic roles and as an antagonist.

I first saw Martin Short on SCTV. I was an instant fan.
I've seen all of his movies, nearly all of his TV shows, and seen him live with Steve Martin.
He is gifted, talented, and we are lucky he shares that with the world.
Jiminy Glick by far is my favorite..absolutely fabulous! Followed by Oliver Putnam! Love Martin Short! Always entertaining!

3 Fugitives and Inner Space were my favorites as a kid
I saw him in Innerspace when I was suuuuuper young and have loved him ever since. Absolutely one of if not my most favorite and beloved actor. In all kinds of things throughout my childhood. Even just his voice brings a big hit of nostalgia and comfort.
The bee sting scene in Pure Luck gets me every time. He's so great.

The lawyer was based on a make-up artist that worked on SNL. She was very very defensive and Martin picked up on that when fashioning the character. It was always a tightrope act trying to keep her from figuring out that it was largely based on her. I think she was clued in the last episode of the season, IIRC.
His role in Merlin is the stuff of legends.

I always know it's Martin when I hear his voice! I love his voice acting and many of these roles highlighted in this video, BUT he's exceptional as Frost in the Santa Clause movies! I LOVE MARTIN! I need one in my everyday life! :D
Martin's performance as the Mad Hatter in 1999's Alice in Wonderland was quite lovely especially when he sang "Auntie's Wooden Leg" and "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Bat "
My most favourite Martin Short appearances in movies were The Three Amigos and then Three Fugitives. I watched it as a kid, and i think i had the best childhood thanks to Martin Short. And yes, he's my favourite actor.
When I see some of his pics on the internet, Martin Short is always smiling, but you can tell that he's not faking it, that's always his real smile. He always gives his true himself in those movies and into the voicing. And that makes the film always so good.
When I see him in some movies he has played (as a main character or not), he always makes my day.

Three Amigos was so stinking good. I watched the vhs as a kid more times than I could count.
It might be because of nostalgia, but if I ever met Martin Short, I would thank him for the work he did as Preminger in Barbie as The Princess and the Pauper.

Martin Short as Jack Frost in Disney's Santa Clause 3: Escape Clause was how I first found out about him as a kid and has to be my favorite of all of his characters that he's played 😂💙❄🎥🎅🏻

I LOVE Only Murders in the Building my mom and i watch it together and im so excited for the next season. I loved Oliver's and Loretta's romance in this last season and i hope we see more in season 4.

Honestly my favorite role of Martin’s is the high priest Huy in Prince of Egypt. I was obsessed with that movie and the high priests as a kid so I gotta give credit to the role that introduced me to him😂

I first saw him on SCTV when he played alongside Catherine O'Hara, Andrea Martin, Eugene Levy and John Candy in many great sketches including a male sendup of " Whatever Happened to Baby Jane" playing Ed Grimley to sibling John Candy who was the Bette Davis role.
