Thank you for the great reaction Matt, i'm glad you liked it. This was recorded in Ledreborg Castle near Roskilde in Denmark, with the Danish National Concert Orchestra and Choir. The leadsinger of the band was Gary Brooker, he died in 2022, at the age of 76. They had a few other hits like Homburg, A Salty Dog and Conquistador.

Gary Brooker now sadly passed, this was a massive hit in the summer of love 1967. Based on the melody of Air On A G String.

This was from a concert recorded for Danish TV. All of the instruments were close miked and were recorded over 100 channels. They recorded two concerts over successive days but only footage from the second day was used. Other great songs played at the concert were Salty Dog, Old English Dream and Conquistador which are well worth checking out.

This song was supposedly the result of a collaboration between a group of bored English and Music majors. One of the bunch spent a "drunken" night out and made a disappointing "hook up" with a girl that had held real potential but didn't quite pan out. Gary Brooker is, thankfully, not a surprise or unknown figure to music people. He was widely viewed as one of the truly great voices from the early Rock and Roll era.

The most-played song on UK radio in the 20th Century wasn't by The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Elvis, etc. it was Procul Harem's original 1967 version of A Whiter Shade of Pale.
