- Join Kurt & Sara as we hang out in Brevard, NC, a cute mountain town near Asheville, NC. We first spend some time in Pisgah National Forest, along route 276, which has great places to stop and easily enjoy the beautiful river and nature. We talk about how and why we moved to a vacation destination. We pop in to Pescado's Burritos for lunch in Brevard, and also get some chai at Cup and Saucer in downtown Brevard. We talk about what Brevard is really like.

Its intriguing as a local with a deep family history here in Hendersonville to see vloggers going around the area and doing "touristy" things that seem like regular activities around here. Oh what a difference can point of view make.
How long has your family been in the area? We really love it here and want to share what we like best with everyone here on CZcams. Thanks for watching and leaving a nice comment. Take care!
@@KurtandSara Well based on books and documents I have roots in the area since before the revolutionary war 1726 to be exact.
Is it "touristy" to enjoy your surroundings and eat at local restaurants? I'm not sure it is.😂 If you've watched Kurt and Sarah for long enough, you would know that these are their regular activities. And good on them for appreciating the place where your ancestors came from.
@@conservachick100 Oh brother I had a feeling someone would take it the wrong way. And no I dont watch this channel much to be honest.
@@TopHatJack4970discord Well if you did watch, you'd know they have a huge respect and love for the area. They're anything but "touristy." And your comment was annoying and unnecessary. Just my opinion. Have a great day!!!
Wife and I loved it there, very cold plunge but an excellent thrill. Another gem Brevard.
One of my favorite areas too! We moved to the area for similar reasons as well. Thanks for sharing. :)
That's great! Thanks for watching!
So enjoy your videos. Sara, I love your bag!
Thank you so much, it was a gift from my Mom. So happy you like our videos :)
Love your videos! I love that you get out in nature then grab some food - totally my idea of a great day! I'm hoping to move from Boston to North or South Carolina some day.
Thanks so much for watching, we really appreciate it! There are so many great places to move to down here. We really love it. Good luck with your move and take care!
Some great places to explore there
Yes, there really are! Thanks for watching :)
Love your videos. I'm in Hendersonville (new resident since 2019) and have learned about some great places from you guys. Thanks!! Keep up the great content.😊
Thanks for watching, Sue! So happy you're finding our videos helpful. Enjoy Hendersonville :)
Oh that’s such a gorgeous place! I wish I wasn’t a wimp when it comes to cold weather! Glad y’all are feeling so much better! I’m enjoying these videos. 😊
Haha, don't worry, we can be wimps about cold water too! So glad you are enjoying our videos and thanks so much for watching!
Ha, ha, "plunged up to my knees", that was cute
Lol, Thanks so much :)
Try Appalachian Java in Burnsville as well. Enjoyed the video!
Brand new to Asheville. Been here 48 hrs as a permanent resident. Can’t wait to explore and get to know my surroundings. Crazy for me to have to use gps to get from my local Walmart and back home!!!
Welcome to the neighborhood, Donnie! We also had to use a GPS to go anywhere when we first moved here, lol. We still have to use it on occasion!! :)
Great video, new subbie and in 2023 we plan on moving to the Asheville area from Upstate NY. We are thinking Weaverville or Hendersonville.
Hey Colleen, welcome to the channel! Weaverville and Hendersonville are both great towns. Good luck with your move and thanks for watching :)
Leaving in April to see and possibly live in Brevard. Can't take the winters up here in Lake George, NY (Adirondack Mts.) Looking for a home with land and workshop for my rustic hickory furniture business. (Adirondack Rustic Design). Hope to meet up with you guys. Thank you for the video. Nice people. Richard
Lived in Maggie valley for awhile and sure do miss the areas in and around Asheville to western North Carolina and Tennessee
This coming Saturday is the Squirrel Festival in Brevard NC, Hope to see you guys there.
I enjoy all the food haha
Ahh Cup and Saucer, love that place!
Yes, it was seriously one of the best chai teas of our lives. Thanks for watching.
Any of the small local coffee ☕️ shops. I have to admit though that have been to a couple of the big name ones but they don't compare.
Dynamite coffee is the 🐐
Fantastic! Thanks for letting us know about it.
I have a couple of questions 😊how is the internet (Wi-Fi) and what about bears? 😬looking to move
Open Road Coffee Shop in Columbus, NC. Go early for the best selection of scones.
Haha, thanks for the tip! Scones go fast :)
Dynamite coffee is in Black Mountain too. It is the best!
Oh, cool, we'll have to check it out! Always love visiting a new coffee shop, thanks!
Brrrrr Kurt. I love Pisgah national forest but I have only been in the water in the summer. I will have to check out Sarah's island next time. I am odd and I don't like the smell or taste of coffee. I do drink a lot of tea.
Haha, the water is defiantly a little warmer in the summer time, Kelly! Kurt can't drink coffee because it makes him a little to edgy so he drinks a lot of tea too, lol.
Thanks for watching and enjoy your adventures in Pisgah!
What do you guys do for a living in Brevard? Are there many opportunities for a career in such a small town thats not remote work?
That burrito place!!! We almost stopped by when we were walking around Brevard College but we weren't sure how the vegan options were. Good?
Oh wow! Yes, there were lots of vegan options and the burritos were tasty! :)
@@KurtandSara definitely going to go there next time when we're there in November 2023
Could you please do a tour of the town of Brevard next time?
Sure thing, you can also check out our other video about downtown Brevard if you'd like. Thanks for watching and have a great day :)
Hey guys! Me and my husband are planning to move out to Asheville so seeing what life is like there in your videos has been super helpful. Curious to get your opinion on the crime in the area? It looks to me like you both feel safe and love it there but would any insight on that. The crime rate shows it went way up over the past couple of years which may be just due to the pandemic and the protesting that went on 2020. Any insight you have is appreciated!
We keep aware of what areas we go to, especially after dark and we keep our guard up. Even though Asheville is less than 100,000 population, it is still a city. Some people may have different levels of comfort there. I'd suggest visiting to sense the vibe. There are lots of surrounding areas to live and visit that may be more appealing if you're looking for a more suburban or rural lifestyle (but can still easily visit Asheville any time). Hope that helps!!
That's a question I've been asking for over twenty years! It'll never be the same as it was even five years ago, you know, quiet, friendly, trusting, ie home. I no longer recognize my hometown anymore, and it both angers me, and breaks my heart! My advice to the inevitable newcomers is to try to assimilate rather than dominate, and maybe you'll be less despised. Don't expect us to bend to your way of life, but try to adapt to ours, after all you chose us, we didn't choose you! Otherwise go back where you came from.....please!
Before moving to Brevard, did you consider all the rain that falls in the Summer and occasional flooding? Last Summer I monitored the rainfall in Brevard and it rained almost every day in the Summer, which caused me to look for another location in NC or Virginia to consider for relocation.
This past summer was super rainy, probably more thank the other 5 years we've lived in the area. I think I heard that it's a kind of "rain forest" which was interesting. Definitely not a dry location - but it definitely helps create the green scenery! Good luck with your relocation! :)
@@KurtandSara Two of my favorite canidates were Brevard and Hendersonville. But now I am looking at Selma Virginia.
That's the first good news I've heard in awhile!
Im looking for a apartment in Brevard can you please send me some information suggestions
