The Westing Game is such a nostalgic read!! My seventh grade teacher had us read it and then she set up the mystery in real time for us to solve throughout the semester. It was so incredible. It’s also very reminiscent of Knives Out the movie

Gone Girl was the book that got me into thrillers! I really loved it. Wasn't a huge fan of her other books though. They were okay but didn't compare to Gone Girl.

I also read Fahrenheit 451 in 7th grade! I think I read The House on Mango Street not for class but for Battle of the Books in 8th grade. Of the ones you showed, as a kid I loved The Westing Game, The Secret Series, The Mysterious Benedict Society, and City of Ember! Those books definitely paved the way for me loving mysteries and found family casts of characters

Oooo, I loved "The name of this book is Secret" by Pseudonymous Bosch and bought the rest of the books in this series. Such a great sense of humour and constant winks to readers 😂❤

My grandma, aunt, and I were in a ‘book club’ when I was younger and we read the mysterious Benedict society series!

This made me excited to pick up books from my childhood when I'm home this week!! I read Fahrenheit 451 around 10th grade. My curriculum was an odd mix--I took Cambridge A Levels in high school so we read more classics than may be standard. One of the best books I read in 11th grade was Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison. One of the earliest videos I ever uploaded to CZcams...13 years ago, wow...talked about my reading list for 11th grade :)

What a sweet walk down Memory Lane. When I was very little I remember mom reading picture books to me. I have converted most of my most treasured reads in to digital format. But I sometimes find my favorite picture books on Amazon and I bought them and still look through them on Christmas Eve. We also shared a deep love of everything Agatha Christie wrote. Those conversations were so much fun!

I'm excited for any comments about gone girl, because I also own the book and haven't read it yet, but I have seen the movie. I have no experience with the author though, so I have no idea if I would like any of her other works

    1) The Road by Cormac McCarthy, I'm glad to hear you love it, because I have to read it for a class myself and of the three "popular fiction" books I have to read this was the one I was afraid of. Actually, all three of the books on my class list were in your three boxes ROFL
    2) Underworld - I picked this up from a little free library like a year ago and was about to unhaul it unread just this week when I realized it was about baseball. BUT apparently it's this hugely influential work? And another book I was about to unhaul (Hollywood Park) references it or was influenced by it? So this is the third vote for keeping it.

I really loved the Road--especially reading it in a classroom setting!
