wind flower is one of the most criminally under promoted mamamoo title tracks, and it's really sad to see because this whole album is a literal masterpiece. the songs, the era, the styling, all on point
personally i'd start from the beginning of wheein's releases, and work your way up, just to see her evolution- i'm SO excited for the release tomorrow you have no idea

if i rank the 4s4c albums, blue;s is definitely the top. all songs from all the albums are bangers but blue;s definitely is the most cohesive one! it's really such an amazing yet underrated album. sadly this album wasn't promoted properly despite being an amazing album :((( it didn't get much love from the gp because of it. hwasa really loves windflower, she def has a soft spot for it. tho it didn't get much attention from the gp, the fans rlly loved it! windflower is definitely a fan favorite.
from autumn to winter is easily my favorite intro ever in mamamoo's discography! it's something you play in the background as the rain pitter patters and you wrap yourself with your favorite blanket as you sip a hot chocolate drink. i just love it so much haha
no more drama is such a title track material! vocals are amazing and moonbyul's rap and flow is just *chef's kiss* ! solar and moonbyul are actually co-lyricists and co-composers of the song together with their ceo.

For Moonbyul’s rap in “Morning” the harmony you noticed was actually her. She records a lot of her raps twice, with one at a higher pitch and the other lower, and they overlay them. You’ll see that in a lot of her solo songs and they also did that in “Wind Flower.” For “Wind Flower” they did add a vocal effect to one of them (as you noticed 😊)

Somewhat unrelated but I can't remember if anyone mentioned as much in regards to the Windflower MV: your film brain might have picked up on it particularly because it was shot in Hong Kong with most scenes and locations being an homage to filmmaker Wong Kar Wai. There are tons of references to his movies in it, and I'm sure they're listed somewhere, but I thought since you've mentioned being very into cinema, you might have appreciated it an extra amount even if you didn't know the specifics 😄
It's also very much my favourite song on the album, and one of my favourites from Mamamoo altogether. Besides how good it sounds, the amazing tempo changes, their voices, the instrumental, etc..., most break-up songs are either about blaming the ex or hoping to get back together (or in "Hello"'s case, actually doing so). This one's about acknowledging the mistakes, the parting, the pain, and moving on day after day, because it's just something that happens - and I just love that! It's why I love Better Than I Thought too, similar vibe, although I prefer it live. When it comes to "Morning", i'm pretty sure Byul was harmonizing with herself in that verse, she does that often lol.
Okay excuse that whole ass thesis in your comments I guess xD I'm really glad you enjoyed the album, it's such a gorgeous one from start to finish, and very excited to watch the special clips with you tomorrow, there's some i'm not sure i've seen before! đŸ€˜

Funny story about it - fans thought that mamamoo had really improved their lipsync abilities in the clip until they realized it was actually live 💀If you want some funny mamamoo Piki Pictures did an episode of "After the Manager Falls Asleep" with mamamoo as well (10 mins where they have to complete tasks without making noise or they will face punishments)

morning is easily one of my top mamamoo songs of all time. the instrumentals are lovely, the girls' delivery were insanely stellar, and the lyricism is on point (ESPECIALLY byul's lines, she has a knack for not only writing angst but performing as if shes been through dozens of divorces lol)

i think it would be better to react to wheein's itm since it'll be timely for her cb then go back to her previous releases.
also, imo it would be better to go back and forth with the solos and then the group albums just to change it up haha i'm actually excited for you to start on their solos! since you'll be able to see how drastic and different they sound from one another yet they're able to work SO well as a group!

In the Wind Flower MV, Moonbyul was wearing a buffy T shirt and a couple of reactors went crazy (Good crazy).
On her channel Solarsido, Solar used Hello as a backing track for one of her videos, it was a double pole dance with her instructor, worth watching.

I think all four albums is about stages of post breakup.
    Yellow is the longing feeling
    Red is the rage feeling
Blue is the acceptance of the breakup
White is moving forward, letting go.
Or blues is regret about breakup and white is acceptance?

    • @ikki8802
      @ikki8802 Pƙed 11 měsĂci +3

rather than stages of post breakup, the 4s4c is about the stages of a relationship. cmiiw but as far i remember, yellow flower is about the beginning of love and relationship, red moon is about the peak/passion within a relationship, blue;s is the breakup and feeling of sadness and loneliness while white wind is the clean slate before loving someone once again. i think they revealed this into one of their concerts??? (i honestly can't remember exactly where/when i have a memory of a goldfish i'm sorry haha)

    • @kudgeond755
      @kudgeond755 Pƙed 11 měsĂci +1

@@ikki8802 I don't remember them revealing it at a concert but your explanation is pretty much how they presented the relationship stages in Paint Me. Paint Me starts the cycle with white and the implication of childhood innocence before moving through the seasons of Attraction, Passion and Heartbreak and, since by then you're no longer sexually innocent, a winter of emotional hibernation to clean the slate as you put it (I call white Innocence/Unattached), and starting over with spring, spring fever and the budding yellow daffodils of attraction (so to speak lol) and a new love affair.
However Nordalilah is quite right that all the title tracks in 4S4C are about breakups in one way or another and that's a perfectly valid interpretation. There are multiple layers to 4S4C and I agree that that breakup cycle is one of them. They do a similar cycle within Egotistic where each of the members plays a stage in leaving an egotistic jerk of a lover: Anger (Moonbyul tosses chair), Defiance (Hwasa stares down the jaguar), Revenge (Wheein burns his guitar in effigy), and Liberation (Solar flies on the pole). Many cycles of seasons, colors, relationship stages and a life cycle if you follow the colors of Paint Me from White (childhood/innocence) to Yellow (adolescence/attraction) to Red (adulthood/passion) to Blue (old age/heartbreak) and imo the final scene of the MV implies reincarnation into a new cycle of life.
Sorry to blab on but I loved both your comments and got carried away. 🙄

    My suggestion :)
Go for the solos and then come back to whole discography in a mix.
Wheein = Redd, Whee, In The Mood in order (again, suggestion)
later on OSTs (a lot xD)
    do 1 Mamamoo album
do another solo (Solar?) the same way, leaving OSTs aside
then MMM, Moonbyul, MMM, Hwasa (I suggest them in order, but maybe a Hwasa album is coming soonish?), MMM+
    My 2 cents! ^^

Solar is my Bias so this album is the best one for me. Hello has no MV but there are live performances, she usually is dressed like a disney princess and her voice is almost ethereal or angelic. Solar is my favorite singer not just mamamoo bias and Hello is one of the reasons she is my favorite singer. yes Blue:s is a very emotional basically break up album, though Hello isnt a break up, the album is supposed to be this way, Paint Me sort of explains the basic feeling of each color. S by the way in Blue:s is Solar, the other albums Moon, Flower and Wind represent those 3 members respectively. The entire concept of breaking a large album into 4 smaller albums based on colors and seasons is genius. The concerts for these albums are genius, Starts with mamamoo, then each member got a solo segment, For Solar Hello was sung, a BTS cover Fire and and more, then the concert ends with mamamoo. 1CM Taller than You has a hilarious animated and live action comedy skit also. Morning is so beautiful and mamamoo makes you feel emotions so much and this song does that. I suggest doing the Solo albums backwards, start with the most recent, Wheein will be first because her newest album comes out in a few days. Then do Solars most recent, then Moonbyul, Then Hwasa, though she had a single from a couple weeks ago. Then repeat with the next album for each. Moonbyul, Hwasa and Wheein have more albums because Solar first did covers in a project she called Solar's Emotion(or Solar Sensitivity or the actual korean word I dont remember) Just when you do Solar emotion, have kleenex available. You might do Wheein's new, then Mamamoo+ (Solar and Moonbyul) because they released 2 albums this year. Then do the Solar, Face followed by Moonbyul's 6equence, Wheein's Whee, then Hwasa Guilty Pleasures if you follow exact release order but those 3 albums came out within a month of each other. Then Dark Side of the Moon and Wheein's Redd plus they all had a single or two over these years like Spit it out. Then after all of that, you can work your way forward again with the rest of the mamamoo albums. By the time you are done, it is likely something else new will be just released after Wheein. One of the other 3 with something or mamamoo or mamamoo+ or who knows. And to make this all more fun for you, there are a lot of Solo OSTs and collabs out there too. Solar's Adrenaline and Paradise for example, older ones like Hwasa and Dua Lipa or Bada Boom (Solar and Moonbyul for the street fighter girls dance contest) and then all of the live stuff.

Blue;S is my favorite Mamamoo album and imo it's a mini-masterpiece of a mini-album. Every song is fantastic, it's their most cohesive album and it's the one that feels the most like the season it represents. It's the album I listen to most often from beginning to end and I often replay it when I get to the end. Blue;S destroyed kpop for me when it came out, which was 5 years ago rather than 3 btw. I had a hard time listening to other kpop artists for about a month - everything else seemed so trivial by comparison.
I think I mentioned my theory about Hello when I saw you were going to watch Solar's performance of it in the World Is One virtual concert during the pandemic. I also highly recommend the partner pole dance set to Hello on Solarsido and her performance of Hello in her solo set during the 4 Seasons F/W concerts. Rewatch the lyric video with my theory in mind and see whether you agree that Hello is about Korean reunification. I've shared that theory before and someone suggested it might explain why there's no MV - it's a highly sensitive political issue and no matter how it was filmed it would be very controversial. Solar may have decided that if RBW wouldn't let her reveal the hidden subject in the MV (or in public statements about the song) then she didn't want to make an MV for it. I think her inclusion of Hello in the World Is One concert is an indication that my theory might be correct. The song applies to reconciliation in Korea and everywhere else in the world where people have been separated.

Honestly I would say to do all their solos and then pick up the albums. Just cause I feel like this should be a good place to pause for them. Their solo work really kinda picked up during the 4 seasons era, and least in terms of their solo debuts. They released a lot almost back to back so it would help fit with the group album timeline better than doing them at the end.
