Currently networking has been key for me, its definitely risky spending time with groups that don't know how to utilize your talents so keeping a move on for those right people are very important and want to play a key role with your niche.
I agree with the solutions part, as a videographer with a background in marketing its been very useful for my clients to show them how to utilize their businesses for the right social media in the right situations, Which I really don't mind doing. We have to remember sometimes our clients are not as savvy when it comes to presenting these videos so the question you have to ask yourself is "Do I want my work getting misrepresented as-well?" Point being; Spend the extra time with your clients, it will make you both happy, its worth it.
    Great video, cheers!

In my opinion, there are far too many competitors now... I'm from Norway and it’s clear that we live in a time where ‘everyone’ wants to be a content creator, which of course means more content (read: garbage) and less professional material. People’s viewing habits are changing; they want more unpolished, authentic material and less refined and polished content. (Mr. Beast is a good example of this, still publishing in HD!) I think the key is to focus more on niches going forward, to become really good at your niche and follow it, and to create the best possible content in new and creative ways (to stand out in the crowd). I started with VR production (360) as an extended service, which is in high demand within healthcare and education, but of course, it's a slightly different game... while they also want training films and regular films for use in presentations. So there are many opportunities if you choose the right path or have multiple avenues to rely on. Content marketing is also a great niche. There will always be a need for great storytelling conveyed through video in the future, both in websites and social media. I wish you all best of luck.

Not every filmmaker can or want to do youtube in order to be relevant, gain more network to fish for more jobs.
Following many video productions, freelancers and lately all making youtube videos about how cool and rewarding is to to youtube. Even those with Netflix hits, who worked for big clients and have big reputation started this "youtube game".
    To me that's depressing.

Oh its very depressing and there is still the path of going to LA, NYC or ATL and working your way up.. that or starting a B2B commercial based business.. but having an online presence for sure helps and that's the way things seem to be moving.

I think it’s just a current form of networking. That’s applicable in every field. Marketing yourself is very valuable.
