I was there, down the front. They were one of my fave bands at the time, but they were tired after being at it 2-3 years straight. Som admitted as much, possibly even from the stage and for sure in an interview before the end of the year, that they needed to go away.
Halo were on before MV, if you remember them? King Adora were my band of the period, but they were already dropped and out in the cold by this point in 2002. It really pains me that the core of some good home-grown British/Irish alt-rock was emerging in 1999-2001...then boom, the NME hyped the Strokes and White Stripes into oblivion circa late summer/early autumn 2001 and that was it, all those bands snuffed out.
Always heard of these guys but never checked them out, damn I was missing out. You can definitely hear their influence in a lot of these grunge gaze bands of today. Teenage Wrist, Narrow head, etc
Finelines is one of the best albums EVER. So underrated
Every week or two I take back home a dozen albums from my car to bring another bunch and 'Finelines' always stays.
I don’t understand how I missed out on this bad for so many years. They’re amazing.

These were good times, hell is for heroes, my vitriol, 100 reasons etc

Take me back to being a teenager when life was easy ❤
I got into them when I was listening to At the Drive In. Always wished they had more releases ❤

My thoughts exactly
They are incredibly influential in a lot of modern shoegaze bands
Kam said chrome neon Jesus was heavily influenced by finelines
Got into the newer nu gaze bands and Spotify saved the My Vitriol recommendation for me to discover later. Narrow Head was the introduction for me
Amazing band. Finelines is a masterpiece. ❤
This song is so goddamn good
Cool man, thanks. I used to rehearse in the studio next door to these dudes in Old St, never heard them until now!!

Hply shit they straight up murdered the crowd
Phenomenal song, great performance. The lead guitarist should've had his sound sorted from the beginning!
