What are your favorite upgrades for the Kraton 6s V5? Leave your answer in the comments below!
Got this a few days ago in red , it’s a beast so far
Awesome!!
@4:22 I like to use a Snap On 1/2" Air Impact driver it usually busts the 2mm-3mm bolts lose easily. :)
👍
You may want to upgrade the steering servo mount as well. The stock one flexes a lot. Great video
I did eventually replace it, much better now. Thanks for watching!
i just got the v5 but waiting to order batterys next pay check all my other trucks are traxxas figure try this truck out going order the parts u just put on ur truck! 👍🏻 keep up with the videos
Thanks for watching! Welcome to the Arrma club!
Romeo hows the kraton going? Do you prefer to use traxxas or arrma
I bought two front bumpers and put one on the rear😀
Good call! I bought the second one, but never installed it in the rear....yet.
I really think it would look much better minus the wing.
You might be right! Thanks for watching.
actually the wing looks great on this and IMO gives it a better look than a maxx or others
That’s how I grab the thing
The bumper and skid plate are for v4. Notice the divot for the diffs are in the center.
Correct, however this was all that was available at the time. Haven't had any issues and it has held up well.
I don't think they even make one for the V5 yet. I used the same one on my V5 and it does work well even with the divot being off
@@rcleesd This is actually why I watched the video. RPM's website says the front bumper and rear skid plate don't work for the V5, but I can see they seemed to be installed just fine. Think I will buy them now. Thanks!
Hi , thanks for the video, I'm a newbie and wanted to start with an rc car and after reading some reviews , they said to get the kraton 6s instead of the granite 3s to avoid upgrading later on, as per my understanding you can run on half power till you get better. Sorry for the long message but my question is which rc u think is best given that you own many of them and definitely have much more experience , so in the range of the kraton which is 600$ what would you get if you will only buy 1 Rc , thanks in advance
I think you are on the right track! Parts will be cheaper and the truck is lighter if you go 3s. If you get a Kraton, batteries and parts will be more expensive, but worth it in my opinion. If you are new to RC completely, I would start with 3s and go 6s. If you are used to 3s and want something bigger (not necessarily faster due to the extra weight) then 6s is the way to go. Hope that helps!
Do you feel that there are equally essential upgrades needed for the notorious v5? Or is that pretty good out of the box?
I don't own the Notorious, but have heard it does quite well out of the box!
@@rcleesd Thanks. Yeah I did pause your video and noticed it wasn’t in the collection but figured you’d done enough research or spoke to enough people to have something valuable to say. Thanks for your response.
They are pretty much the same rig so definitely I suggest you need the same
Awesome video. Very helpful. 😁 Do you have a link to the specific drill you are using and perhaps a suggestion of compatable set of mip bits/drills?

Above is the Dewalt 8v Gyroscopic Drill.
Below is the MIP set of bits for the drill. They are hands down the best, and well worth the money. (They will get out screws that cheap tools will just strip). They also sell the hand tool version, if you prefer...linked 3rd.

Good stuff! Thanks brother!! Just got into the hobby with 3s v5 versions of Big Rock, Senton and Typhon about a month ago. 11 year old son broke the shock tower at the skate park last night...so once the ordered part gets here, we get to learn how to work on these things. 😊 It's addicting. Just got the Kraton 6s v5 today. 😁 Appreciate your vids. Subscribed when I was first researching the hobby. 👍
@@tjsongman Awesome!! This hobby sure is fun and addicting. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Nice little review. If you can get an exb bumper its a little better than the rpm in my opinion.
I was noticing that, I wanted to get that one first, but couldn't find it in stock at the time.
@@rcleesd yeah my local hobby shop had a great black Friday deal so I got my first arrma. The guys that work there give you lots of time and let me put a bunch of rc side by side then went through all the different things.
@@jonathanbeaumont2183 that's awesome 👌
@@rcleesd yeah the chassis were the hinge pins go into the chassis i noticed that there was more material than the v4.
@@williamperri3437. Lol I like rpm don't get me wrong but it was the same with the traxxas slash bumpers the rpm ones sucked compared to the stock ones. There's compression built into the stock bumpers of the exb so they take hits harder kinda like the stock slash bumpers. Now I recommend rpm a arms I have on all my vehicles except my new kraton.
Just curious if you've had any ESC issues w yours. I upgraded my servo and now I have a blinking red light & cant seem to get it to bind.
I haven't had any issues with my servo, but I have heard of that before. Unfortunately, I don't have a video on it, but I do believe there is a way to reset it and others have posted this video here on CZcams, if my memory serves me. Let me know if you have any luck!
@@rcleesd Ill poke around the you tube land & look for some ways to reset. Thank you!
My kraton 6s v5 won't steer idk what's wrong with it. Put a fresh pack of batteries and still won't turn, seems like the servo is broken. I only had truck for two weeks smh
Man, that sucks...sometimes a rock can get stuck in there and block the steering linkage from moving. Those servos are notorious for going out quickly, give Horizon Hobby a call to their warranty line and they will replace it for free...I have a short video about the process of getting my motor replaced, no hassles. Let me know if you have any luck!
@@rcleesd thanks for reply! I will surely give them a call to see if I can get a new one. But I'm also going to upgrade I don't want to keep running into problems with it. I'm going to check out video
What's a good replacement servo for people on a budget?
Essential upgrades - replace the entire model....but then it holds good.
Yesterday a guy came to trade my UDR against an Outcast 8S....I looked at the car and could'nt see a single thing except the body that would'nt need an upgrade. So I make one from parts now. Or an Xmaxx...one of the two
Yeah. The EXB roller seems to be a better option these days, wasn't available when I purchased this truck. Thanks for watching!
@@rcleesd The nice thing on these rigs is that you literally get EVERYTHING as upgrade part. So I really think to scratchbuild one could be cool. Beautiful Truck though, Sir :)
Nice! How has the new radio and servo been? I get my Notorious for Christmas.
It's been great so far, no issues. Took it out about 100 to 200 feet the other day, no range or lag problems!
Just got mine yesterday the servo is good just slow but plenty of power to turn the wheels
@@mickman2113 Hopefully yours doesn't stop working like mine. Make sure you turn the steering rate knob down, so it is not over exerting the servo/
@@leroy5202 That's a great point...I always turn all of mine down until it doesn't max out the throw to both sides.
@@leroy5202 My servo died 20 minutes into the first run. Got a replacement and reset the endpoints. Hopefully doesn't happen again. Since I set the end points do you still recommend turning down the steering rate knob?
T bone part it’s much better 💪🏼💪🏼
Thanks for watching, I'll take a look at the T bone one, I have heard good things about it.
Do not buy anything from T-bone racing. They suck!!!!!!! worst company ever. worst customer service. I order a simple front bumper for my Arrma Granite and missing screws and the bumper wasn't even assembled like it was suppose to be. Of course they have no phone number to contact.....gotta use email. Finally answer me after sending 10 emails that spanned over 2 months. Should not be in business!!
Don't you want to seal the tyres if your running in water? So no water gets in atall..
Yes, or vent the tires so that when you spin them, the water can get out.
Dear god as a professional mechanic, using a power tool like you did to remove such small screws drives me insane. Worse yet is using one to install them. You had good advice about hand tightening everything but to even run them down is a good recipe for disaster. Both from overtightening and cross threading them.
You are correct. Luckily this tool is only 8 volts and has very little torque. I do appreciate your concern, but haven't stripped a screw with it yet in many years and if I do, it's only a few cents to replace it. Thanks for watching!
Agree
i just bought the v4 ahhhhhhh crap
Damn Arrma! Haha, joking aside, it sucks when they release a new version, right after you buy an RC. On the flip side, at least Arrma isn't dragging their feet to make improvements!
@@rcleesd yea i mean it its quite a improvment in my eyes but i already have a very nice futaba radio that almost costs more then the car its self does so the receiver and remote doesnt affect me i would replace it anyway the but the chasis and the rubber sealad bearings are two big things for me hope you have a great time with yours i sent my v4 30+ feet inthe air landed smack on the chasis and its still going great so i expect the v5 to be one hell of a truck
@@kylerbuican7945 I agree, the Kratons are tough, I can't imagine how much stronger the EXB is for what I do, but awesome to have so many options these days with kits and rollers.
