    Thanks for the side-by-side comparison, I've been struggling to decide between the various suppliers, your video really helped me decide which direction I should consider based on ease of use.

    Ordered 1 chinese harness off ebay for my 87 burb once, never again. Had to basically beat down the seller's door to get a diagram for the dash harness portion and guess which manual they sent? BP's manual. I never could get the O2 sensors, MAF and IAT sensors to register even after buying new ones and swapping the PCM. Also for some reason they had the alternator signal/exciter wire spliced into the main power feed somewhere so it just drained the battery when the truck wasn't running. Complete crap, i'd sooner buy a junkyard harness for 50 bucks and leave the evap pigtails unplugged instead of going through all that again. Before anyone asks, the PCMs I used were 99-2002 and the harness was advertised as that too. That BP harness looks real nice though!

    The struggle is real though everyone would love to support and purchase an American harness but over 1000$ for a harness 😂 that costs more than the truck itself and I got a family to feed I’m trying to have fun on a budget more power to you if you have the money to throw away like that

    The BP product is worth every penny. However, I buy the Chinese DBW harnesses on Alibaba, the Chinese eBay, for $169 and have never had a problem w/ them. Seemingly, the guy selling them on FB is a reseller and taking a good mark-up.
    In the case you cite I'd buy the BP every time but at $169 I've found the Chinese harness to be a good buy

      Good to hear that you have had good success with the Chinese harnesses, they definitely have their place. Like I said in the video, I’ll be using the BP harness on my next project and will use the China harness on my engine test stand where if it has problems it won’t be a big deal.

    I’m glad your going to be able to use them both. I just started watching your videos. I like the approach you take which is how I will do. I don’t mind saving a buck on a budget but I don’t (hate is better word) throwing away money on something that is going to waste time. Like you said in a previous video, I’ve been down the block with a project that got no where fast. I want to ride. Thanks again on your insights.

    Great video. The BP harness looks like a solid piece. I went with another US made harness and had a few snags with it, but it's installed and running fine. Next go around I will most likely go the BP route. To be honest, the BP fuel/relay block was the deciding factor for me when I initially bought. It appeared that it was too big, but as it turns out, it is more compact and user friendly than the harness I bought.

      Yeah BP is definitely going to be my go-to company for harnesses going forward.

    Wrong place to be cheap if you ask me. Wire harness is like the vascular system of your car,don't want to be trouble shooting any of that 300 miles from home. The chinese looks like it would work fine the first few months,then the gremlins start. Corrosion in connections,pins that don't have the proper drag tension etc. My money definitely on BP

    • @LowbuckLS
      @LowbuckLS  Před 2 lety

      Yep I agree, I don’t want to have my Suburban quit on top of a mountain somewhere out in the bush due to harness issues.

  • @general23cmp
    @general23cmp Před 2 lety +2

    I can see both sides and maybe it depends on the vehicle and application. For example if the harness is going on a $300 junkyard motor into an old beater with liability-only insurance, it’s hard to justify a harness costing double the engine value. If I’m building a $20k plus ride or a daily driver, the extra cost is good insurance.

    • @LowbuckLS
      @LowbuckLS  Před 2 lety +6

      That’s a fair point on the harness costing more than the engine in some cases and the China harnesses have their place for sure. In my project it will be going on a 4x4 that will be used in remote locations so I have no problem spending a couple hundred extra dollars for what I perceive to be more reliability and a few less points of failure. But for most people the China harness will work just fine. The interesting things is after seeing this video the China harness guy has reached out and said he is going to make improvements to his product based on what he has seen in this video and send me another harness to review, so stay tuned for that.

      Neither one are my product. I purchased both harnesses with my own money for use on my own projects and thought this would be a useful comparison.
