The reason this song is so special to me, is that it perfectly evokes all the feelings of joy, love and relaxation that comes with christmas. This isn't a love song or a song about Santa for example. Through the lyrical content and the sonic direction, we as listeners feel the nostalgia of being 8 years old all giddy with excitement, of being happy to see the people you love, it really encapsulates the spirit of Christmas, and its a truly powerful thing. Some of the best moments i've had throughout my life has been around Christmas time and this song captures it so perfectly. Merry Christmas everyone :))

One of the most amazing experiences I had with this song when I myself was driving home. I was by myself in the car. It was winter so the sun had set at about 4pm and by now it was black as ink out there, and there was no one else on the twisty country roads of Denmark. It was just me, the radio, and the little illuminated bubble in front of the car.

Feel a bit low today after having the privilege of marching at the Cenotaph in London yesterday, and sharing stories with all the Old & Bold service men and women. My dear grandad died in Changi Prison in Singapore in 1942, so mum, now 80 and with dementia didn't grow up with memories of a daddy coming home for Christmas as she was only 7 when he was killed. Now I'm a grandad and my own father has just passed on and this lovely, uplifting song carries a real message (and a lovely innocent video too), about what home means and I'd just like to remember, for a moment, those who didn't make it home and those we've lost who we wish we could still be with at Christmas time. When you really are driving home for Christmas, this is a wonderful song to listen to :-D - Last time I had to drive home for Christmas was the 22 of December 2008 and it was a 3,5 hour drive which is across the country ( Denmark is a small country). I listened to this song most of the way, and it kept a big smile on my face.
