Today I unbox, assemble and mount the Ace line hauler prawn/crab trap puller. This item is made in Canada and has been around since the year 2000.
Based on my research this unit is robust, built with quality, proven to last and outperforms other pullers in the market.
Note that the bulldog hands free line coiler and the carrying case are sold separately. At the making of this film it was available for free with the purchase of this unit. I would like to add that unit also comes with a 1 year warranty.

Wow. Fantastic video. We fish spots in 300 feet up at Orcas Island. I can’t imagine having to pull them by hand! I was feeling your pain when you pulled those two pots before you got the puller. It takes about three minutes and 50 seconds to retrieve 400 feet of line. I actually timed it! 😂 I am subscribing to your channel and will go check your other videos out.
😆 it took about 30 mins of painstaking effort to pull it by hand and about 2 years off my life 😆.. next trip I got one haha. Love this unit, best tool on my boat. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment Jacob. See u on the next adventure

Wow! What an awesome door prize! Best in the game in my opinion. Good luck out there. Be careful not to run knots through the pulleys. Itll blow ur fuse. I swapped mine to resettable fuse type incase it does happen.

I'm glad that I have hired help to pull mine😵💫. I don't really!!! Sometimes they get stuck in the mud , then after pulling so hard your nads pull into , to un stick it , you then hafta pull it up to the surface. You then forget about how hard they were to pull when that belly is getting stuffed. But I do wanna get one of these. Would have enjoyed seeing the coiler in action.

Thanks for posting this, I’ve been looking at this model and seeing how skookum it is sealed the deal. We have a 12 foot dinghy with a Scotty mount on our trawler. Sounds like we’re not far from you, we’re in Campbell River.

That mount seems crappy, one single pin holding the pot puller? What if you’re in waves and the boats rocking, will it flip backwards into the boat?
I've tested going full bore in the open and no issues at all. Shakes but solid. Nope doesnt pivot that way.. same as a downrigger and held by one bolt. It's a real skookum item. Fully tested and highly recommended.
Check out my crabbing and prawning videos after we bought this. You can see it work and see clips of us ripping across waves.

You only have to pull traps up from 400 feet once to realize it's time for a line hauler!
😂 you got that right! Bahha. Love the line hauler. What I didn't mention, since I got the hauler I also changed the fuses to resettable fuse breakers. Knots in the line or any jam ups while pulling blows a fuse and it's more user friendly this way.

@@bbtvfishingismyhappyplace I have an old Big Kahuna line hauler that has worked for years. It's looking pretty rusty and worn out. I just got a great deal on a used Ace for $200! Unfortunately, it has the wrong mount. It's got a Cannon mount on it, but I'm going to get a buddy who can weld aluminum to weld on a bracket to fit my Scotty base.
Oh nice. Yep I like this unit. I use it even for easy 50 ft crab trap pulls. Plus self coiling option!😁
Is it universal mount port or starboard ?
Yes, it works port or starboard. Fits on a Scotty #1023 Tilt-Up Mounting Bracket For Downrigger
What kind of bracket dose it mount to.
This mounted on a scotty downrigger tilt mount. I share the mount with my downrigger. I believe there's other mounts you can get for it aswell. Hope this helps.
