That old Cherokee was amazing. The in-line V6 was unstoppable. Bought one for $500. Never put a dime into it and i kept it for 5 years and it still ran for 10 more years.

JD powers is kinda the worst indicator for reliablity fyi and theres alot of corporate shinnengains going on with them, go off of consumer reports, and that mopar has an interior from an 06 car in it, with very rough, harsh plastic finishes that would be better suited to a rental car
to say nothing of the problems that V8 motor has had over the years, where apparently in fleet usage, they eat themselves alive and literally thanks to how the lifters are rigged up
and the variable valve timing, literally eat the lobes off the camshaft, called the Hemi Tick, and the early ones had a serious thermostat problem I came across where it just wasnt turning on soon enough, and would cause the cars to grenade
to say nothing of how overpriced the cars have gotten, and the fact that the stelantis group has jacked up the price by 35% in the past two years alone to fund EV research
instead of making a better car, and seems to be taking everyone for a ride
also donut media did a bit on them, which also explained why they were literally the most stolen cars in america
they put the neutral switch under the tray by the shifter, and the cars auto start feature is so weakly programed that people are literally stealing them with an APP on their phone
meaning you overpayed for an under developed V8 with an interior from 2006 that has a built in self destruct sequence, provided you even get there with how easy it is to steal
also the crown vic you feature needed frequent rebuilding of its front suspension as the Lincoln Continental, and the gas tanks used to go up like pintos from a poorly designed gas feed throat in the trunk of the car
that when crushed, would leak gas on the hot exhaust
and honestly if you wanted the most honest and reliable cars from america, and your going vintage
Chevy Nova, Dodge Dart, and the C10 flatside pickups that used to have the 305, followed by the dodge diplomat with the 360
which is what they used in the Jeep grand Cherokies in the 90's, and the original buick's and caddies of the 60's and 70's
which are still around to this day, and more than a few of ford's full sized sedans of the early to mid 60's and early 70's
hence why they were the car of choice in some of the early to mid 70's car chase movies when it came to the ford galaxie 500
and in particular, the original Ford LTD before it got turned into the crown vic in the late 80's, which was a damn fine car in its own right

Impala.. my 06 ss has had 3 transmission rebuilds.. 212k.. my 07 had 1 brand new transmission and has 279k.. i dunno about cheap and reliable.. but my 12 Impala LT had engine timing issues and transmission issues when i traded it in.. over 8k in repair
Im not so sure about this car.. ive had 5 Impala's 2 grand prix's.. nothing cheap repair wise except the availability of parts at stores and junk yards to keep them going, honestly.. my experience.. no nothing cheap unless you buy your parts off Amazon and get it shipped here.. but definitely not reliable parts as ive learned..

How many miles when it was bought??

@CarsInsider-xc7pw 80k on the 06, that car had a carfax report showing all services were done and where they were done. But car was a local trade in that the salesman/owner has known since his kids went to school and was taught by the previous owner.
I bought 07 with 260k but they literally had every service paper on the car along with previous owners paperwork as well.. I didn't want the folder of records or the carfax report after I bought it because I wouldn't need them. I know everything was done by a licensed mechanic mostly at the dealership it was purchased from near Grand Rapids Michigan then traded in and the new owner went to same dealership for repairs..
