@@SmokeMyBlunt I agree he was faster than Bergkamp, but they were very different players. Robben was very fast and went at defenders like a train. Bergkamp was more elegant, and he “danced” around defenders calmly. Both great players.
I was a season ticket holder for five years in the time Arjen Robben played for Bayern. I can tell you that everytime he got the ball the people in the stands were standing up because they felt something special was going to happen. It was always in the air, that suspense.
I had the same feeling in 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
We had the same feeling at Chelsea
Had that with prime Lennon at spurs, everyone always got up when he started running at the defence.

I'm not Dutch. Not German, and definitely NOT a Bayern Munchen fan. BUT. Robben is one of the absolute giants of the modern game. One of the very best players of his generation, and is up there with the greatest Nederland has ever produced.

He was predictible, you know his direction, you know what foot will shoot, you familiar with his angle, you know the path he's going to take, but once you face him in the real situation nothing works, you just cannot stop him

The goal at 3:53 is my personal highlight. I so vividly remember the game. Bayern was down 0:3 against Manchester United after 30ish minutes and there was little hope left for Bayern, but they never gave up in that game. They scored the 1:3 before half time and then this fateful corner kick came up. Arjen was almost praying in the back hoping to not get noticed by ManUs defense and then Ribery did this long cross. I remember the German commentator going "corner by Ribeeeeryyy, Robbeeeeen, an unbelievaaaable goal, Arjen Robbeeeeeen" It was magical.

And nobody does or did it as good as he did. With speed, technique and a brilliant left foot shot. Most wingers can’t even pass a defender. Other players would do the same if they could, but they can’t.
Yeah he scored every time. Every time Robben made his cut from the right to the left in his career he ended up scoring... defenders never won that battle against him.
We saw how incredibly unstoppable he was in his prime at 2010 against Argentina in the semifinals of the world championship.
