I'm not a fan of Westerns, and I can say that this is easily one of the best films ever made. I'm ashamed to say that so few people in my generation are even aware of it.
+john tracy I'm torn on that sentiment, but I think so many westerns are up there, it's hard to decide. High Noon... The Shootist.... Unforgiven.... Magnificent Seven.... The 1936 version of Three Godfathers (starts off shaky, but has a strong ending), those movies can't be ignored either. It's impossible for me to say this is the best, because all of those movies were so unique and powerful in what they set out to accomplish, I can't compare them. Then, I also LOVE the Maverick Movie, just for a good fun time.
Exactly it's fucking enjoyable even tho it's so long it never fails to keep you invested and by the end you feel satisfied of what you got Part pf what made the movie great is the music that was loud and captured the exact feeling and intensity of the moment And what's crazy it appeals to us men more then women It's built in a way that makes you just interested as a man Not a single woman apart from my dear mother ever said she enjoyed the film
There is 3:00 minutes of silence at the end of the song. That is the time it takes your brain to recover from hearing such a master piece and letting it cool down so it can function properly again. Kinda like a cool down at the end of a work out.
"When you listen to Mozart, the silence that follows is still Mozart" said Sacha Guitry. In my humble opinion, this sentence can be said to all composer of this caliber, such as, indeed, maestro Morricone !
Once upon a time a young guy listened to this song! He was so touched of the greatness and beauty that he listened to this song all night and day! One day a friend of him told him that there were loads of better songs today. He killed his friend. But unfortunately he loved his friend nevertheless and on his deathbed (60 years later) he decided that he wouldnt rest in peace until he found a greater song.- Legend says, he is still seeking.
When I was a kid, my dad, brother and I would play this song on a record player and play the standoff between the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly to this song and try to outshoot each other. It was a lot of fun doing that.

The boyfriend realizing the mistake he made while also contemplating what the fuck he just witnessed when her brother reached for the salt, also figuring out an escape plan as well. Meanwhile the mother and daughter are wondering if they should leave or not.

I assumed they were his, but I went in for a closer look, seeing that he snagged The Good The Bad and The Ugly for only a few bucks and in pretty good condition. As if he sensed my very being approaching his hidden gem, his hand snapped to the vinyl, securing it under his arm, and he looked up at me. I smiled, saying to him, "real good find." He laughed and said thanks. I've just come home to listen to some Ennio Morricone. God dammit that should have been me

Maestro Morricone's spirited rendition sends you soaring to heaven like a wild bird in pursuit of euphoria leading to Nirvana. Incredibly epic piece of music and equally epic movie scene. People are so ADD these days directors don't dare film a scene this long where seemingly little happens for fear the audience will groan about the lack of action and explosions.

I never get tired of seeing it. I must get one of those retro turntable record players to listen to this album again!
I often use this as an example of how good acting, filming, and music can make a scene. Because this scene is literally just three guys staring at each other for 5 minutes, but it's one of the TENSEST scenes in all of cinema.
One of the greatest films ever! One of the quintessential westerns ever made! If you don’t like this film, something is wrong with you. This is just a great iconic piece of just filmmaking in general not just western filmmaking.
