I animated a motion graphics promo video in Adobe After Effects for Lakewood Church, introducing their speaker lineup for the year. In this After Effects tutorial, I walk through the process from start to finish and share my tips for setting up similar projects, including animating text on with Trim Paths, Transitions, and the 3D Camera multi-screen zoom in. how do you edit the names in the other comps? more specifically the trim paths?

Trim paths only work on shape layers, and once you convert the text to shapes, it's a one-way process. That's why After Effects keeps the original text layer and disables it. If you want to change the text, you have to go back to the original text layer, convert to shapes again and apply the same animation/style to that. It's a bit tedious, but also a reason why I made the Trim Paths as a few preset options in my preset pack.

Sorry for the delay. The convert text to shapes is one-way, so if you need to change the name, you have to go back to the text layer, make the change and convert to shapes again. But you can copy/paste the keyframes from the original shape layer (the trim paths) to the new to speed up the process.
