Great presentation that explains the social injustices inflicted on atheists in America.
Only once in my life have I heard an American politician even acknowledge the mere existence of atheists: Barrack Obama at the multi-faith 911 memorial. After naming every possible religion he reluctantly added "... and even those that do not find their comfort in faith".
Do you think you can make a video? on the popularity and eventual downfall of the new atheist movement.
I'm in Australia and my home town is very religious. When I was religious, I felt a disdain for atheists and took part in looking down upon them. I regret it so much now, looking back. Shedding religion has made me a better person and more aware of my actions .
Hi, Yasmin! Thanks for sharing your experience!
Can you think of anything people could have done that would have lessened your disdain for atheists?
@@JaniceLHz Not really because it was based on misconceptions like atheists having no spirituality and viewing the world as only physical that made me think they were reducing their experience to animals, but it takes education to know that's not true, like the way Richard Dawkins says that even he has a deep feeling of reverence when in nature and had a deep side like when listening to a Schubert quartet. Well, perhaps that's something actually. Perhaps letting the religious person understand that you're deeply emotive and spiritual as well, and that that is part of being human, not just religious.
@@yasmin_piano Thank you for thinking about it and sharing.
I've been atheist in the USA almost all of my 53 years, and even I did not realize how poorly we are viewed and treated.
How do we start to convince society at large that many atheists have a strong morality?
Why did/do you or people you know distrust atheists?
probably because they dont afraid to be punished by gods
@@religiologEng That sounds like a guess or inference.
Anyone else, who can say from their own experience as a theist, or who heard it from a theist in their life?
Atheism is unrelated to morality. But as an atheist you are free to adopt a personal moral outlook far superior to that of Xians. Is it ever moral to punish - let alone kill - people for what others did? Me: "No! Never!" Xians: "Well, it's _usually_ immoral but if those killings are commanded or committed by God, that's a different situation." What's that called? Situational ethics! Xians can only evaluate one single act to be _absolutely_ immoral: disobedience. To call any other act _absolutely_ immoral would be to admit that it would _still_ be immoral even if committed or commanded by their god. But they can't go there! 😆
Atheist: "I personally feel that dumping a 64 oz soda over a stranger's head just to see the shock on their face is absolutely immoral. Do you agree?" Xian: "Of course!" Atheist: "What about slavery?" Xian: No, I can't evaluate that to be _absolutely_ immoral. That would be to admit that God acted immorally; a case of Man judging God, and I'm forbidden to do that." Atheist: "So...to you, giving a stranger a soda douche _is_ absolutely immoral but slavery is not?" Xian: "Yes." Atheist: "Check your moral priorities!" See how Xianity straitjackets morality?
A demagogue will typically have a Bible in one hand and a flag in the other, equating Christianity with patriotism.

Anyone that teaches me a new word automatically gets a thumbs up! Great video.
Edit: 2 new words! Contumelious (or contumacious); 'a stubborn refusal to do as one is told'
Thanks a lot!
Another great video made by you however already know about discrimination against atheist (it's been around for at least 5,000 years.)
thank you for the comment!

I dont give a squirten darn....im a MILITANT Atheist and a proud Atheist. Like any adult should be.
Pride cometh before destruction and a fall.
Same
It really is remarkable how upset some theists get at the mere mention of atheism. I think it's rooted in a profound fear of death, both for themselves and their loved ones, that their religion lets them hide from. Like bees getting more aggressive before winter, because they know deep down the end is near.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Yes, it could be one of the reasons. Also a fundamental misunderstanding of even a possibility of living in a world without supernatural beliefs / dimension.
Pretty good video man
Glad you enjoyed! there are many more on the channel
Another excellent video.
Thanks again!
You forgot one: adoption of children.
yes, good point! I dont have data but it is more likely to be true
Before I graduated from high school, my pops told me to never claim to be an atheist. He said to tell people I'm agnostic. That way, when the Jesus people start rounding up atheists, I might be spared.
This was 1986. He knew the Jesus people would take control of the government and put atheists and intellectuals on the wall.
thank you for sharing?
I am happy to be french and to be able to criticize Islam, have fun about Christianism and criticize Judaism. I would be in prison in USA.
Well this settles it. I will never ever go to Massachusetts!
