I'm sure George seen this, & he's got the same amount of respect for Garth, as Garth has for him. I watched that, when Garth came out to hand George the award, he said it's weird how he's handing the man who highly influenced him the award that George should've won decades ago.
Got that right Garth , since 1980s George Strait hit charts song after songs, truly love all his hits albums though years. Songs Fans can see along in concert. And have great time. Only one saw George Strait was old Carlson theater back 1980s , but was after his daughter die in car accident. Still have Fan paper. Back then. Still buy cds and cassette tapes and records today. Thank You big Fan. Always enjoy listening radio stations. Back then 1980s. Country music sound. Still growing strong every year by year. Only wish had Hall of Fame. This year or next year 2020. King of country music sound, live on Forever. In Fans hearts.
Ummm, to the one guy on here.... what? Video about Garth Brooks talking about George Strait and you get into what? Huh? I'm not sure how it fits. Anyway, I had no idea how well spoken Garth Brooks is! Very intelligent speaker. Kinda surprised by how well he communicates and chooses his words.
Yeah but george has 61 number one's Garth is not eveb half way to that george has the most in music history even more the elvis and the Beatles combined
@@andrewspray5542 Yeah but Garth retire more or less a long time ago. He was a mega star, cross over monster. And I like Strait more, but if Brooks would've stayed around longer, he'd have been known as the best. He's nearly 10 years younger and could've ran into many, many more hits. Already had many more popular music hits.
I've always liked George ever since he and I shared the stage at the old Wishing Well Club in Pearsall, Texas in the late 70's. But the whole story of his life hasn't been told. We all smoked pot and did cocaine back then backstage and got drunk as hell, screwed girls in the parking lot. The band I was playing in opened for George and The Ace In the Hole Band. They didn't have a bus but we did, an old 1948 job that stayed in the shop more than on the road. We partied in that bus all the time and when Norma stayed at home with Jenifer, George lined it up with the best of us and rolled that green just like I did. Those were the good old days.
+copedawg I DID tell my story in a book available on Amazon.com called KING GEORGE: The Triumphs And Tragedies In the Life Of George Strait. There's of names in there who can also tell the story of GS. Johnny Rodriquez and I were talking the other day about GS. We three grew up within 25 miles of each other and played the same haunts. I'm 61 years old and my days on the stage are few and far between now, but I have my time. Can you say the same? I've shared the stage with many of the greats. GS, Johnny R., Ray Price (Poteet Strawberry Festival in 1970) and of course Willie Nelson who lives in Austin, Texas as I do. You know, I've always been suspect of people like you who probably never picked up a pair of drumsticks or a guitar. All it is is jealousy. You never had the balls to take the time to practice in order to be good enough to even be around guys like George or Johnny or Willie. Just enjoy the music and when need back up on anything, first look at yourself.
+Matt Beeman Thanks, Matt. There is a picture of George's father and I at Buddy's grave in deep South Texas as we talked of George's beginnings in Pearsall. We were at the Big Wells Cemetery where so many Straits are buried. BUT some of the older graves the names are spelled Straite with an e on the end. Germans did that in the old days. My name in Germany is actually spelled TEUTSCHE. My wife's surname was DIETZ and on many graves it's DIETZE.
+Matt Beeman Brady. The geographical center of Texas. Nice little town. That is the town where that guy who ripped off the entire town in a Ponzi scheme. He married the pharmacist's daughter or doctor's daughter and many Brady residents were lured into his bullshit while he got caught and sent to federal prison. By the way, you would be hard pressed to even FIND the Broken Spoke today. It's still there, but it's surrounded by new condos built on South Lamar Blvd.
George was young as anyone else, and even if he did those things he can’t and won’t be defined by it. I am sure for the sake of everyone in his musical circle those things needed to stay under wraps. No need to taint a great career.
You can tell Garth Brooks really appreciate George strait as singer and aa a friend
Garth is awesome. George is just a little bit better. Both are country legends.
Garth and George my favorite country singers of all time
WELL SAID MR. GARTH BROOKS. WELL SAID.
