Thats not a 1200S. Just a standard 1200 with factory exhaust. It is a 1200, not an 821. The 1200 has less HP than the 1200S. I have a 1200S and it's neck in neck with an MT10. This standard 1200 is no slouch and had he not mis-shifted or manual shifted, it probably would have kept up. Judging from the Monster losing throttle, he wasn't using the quick shifter where the MT10 was. That manual shift cost the Monster the race. Otherwise it would have been an even split. These two bikes are just about equally matched in terms of actual capability. Win/loose comes down to rider skill, not bike capability. But I did enjoy reading some of the other comments. One guy said he's beaten an R1 on his 1200S... If he did, it was rider skill, not bike. An R1 will eat a Monster in the straights. Dont get me wrong, the Monster is a killer bike, but it's not a liter crotch rocket and wont perform as one. Its not meant to. However fun comments to read.
