I don't agree with Rick in the list matter. A lot of top8 characters are not in A and S. Chararcters like: Hwo, Lars, Chole, Paul and fucking Heiachi. but I do think the bottom tier is for one trick characters. I don't think someone will play a whole tournament with lars or chole. I DARE SOMEONE TO DO IT. a tournament is not just a 2 out of 3 match, it is 16 2 out of 3 matches. that's only my opinion.
Jeondding went to manila cup and played Chloe to a greater effect than he did Eddy, reaching grand finals (resetting the bracket too). Dotoring went through the entire east asian (steam) online TWT with Gigas, also reaching grand finals. Lars, I can't think of anyone. Neither can I for Kuma/panda.
it's frustrating to watch streams of the game you want a week before you can play it but i can't complain about it to tekken players that waited 3 years for early 2017 lol but let me defend mvci a little bit... the game looked better watching streams on my tv than in the notebook screen but even though it doesn't have great graphics it's not exactly bad... i don't think they were going for cartoony or realistic or comic book artstyle, i think they made this plastic look on purporse so the characters look like toys to appeal for kids... so they can sell toys or action figures or whatever that look just like the characters in game... yeah, some animations like frank and ghost riders level 3 supers fell flat but it's not like umvc3 phoenix wright stuff wasn't as ridiculous on the gameplay it's still marvel, if open ended fast fighting games were not your thing before it's not now that this is going to change... the only thing that the developers overlooked in trying to make the game easier is that assists are 1 button special moves and they removed it... just call assist and cover your partner is easier than manually do the moves with tag in theory gems give enough variety to make every character viable... arthur has bad mobility, give him airdash with time gem, etc 2v2 with no assists gives the feel of mvc1 but in mvc1 you died from blocking strider or gold war machine, now chip doesn't seem to do much damage and the roster is not bad, it has avengers, guardians of galaxy and classic capcom characters... it doesn't have many new stuff yet but the characters that got in should be there... hopefully the plan for future dlc isn't cancelled because of bad sales due to shit talk on the internet
