    Layout was, until now, hard to tackle with, this is a great video that encourages me to give layout another try, as sending a model to autocar can be a mess of overlapping lines of all the edges of the 3d model stacking on top of each other in a plan view.

    I'm new to this so I'm planning to buy ipad and I want my project to be realistic

    • @SketchUpSchool
      @SketchUpSchool  Před 7 měsíci

      There is no option to create realistic renderings on the iPad. So if you want to use SketchUp for iPad, you would then need to also work on a computer where you could open your SketchUp file (in SketchUp Pro) and use a photorealistic rendering extension (which can only be added to SketchUp Pro).

    @rishabhaggarwal2766 Před 3 lety +2

    Hello, my name is Rishabh and I come here to ask your advice.
    I apply the maps in the appropriate slots, such as Diffuse, Reflect, Reflection Glossiness, Fresnel IOR and Bump, and save the skp file. But every time I try to open this skp file on another computer, the skp file only shows a single texture I?ve applied (Diffuse). I did a test creating a folder with all the textures of that object in the same directory as the skp file and it worked but I was wondering: is it possible to do this without having to create this folder with the textures and have all those textures contained within the skp file??
    I would greatly appreciate hearing your advice.

    • @SketchUpSchool
      @SketchUpSchool  Před 3 lety +1

      Your rendering tool needs to know where to find those files each time it renders the model. So if you open the SketchUp file on a new computer, but you don't have the maps files on that computer, your rendering tool can't find it.
      If you are using a tool like V-Ray for SketchUp, the solution is to use the Pack Project feature so that V-Ray packs all of the underlying files into a project folder. Then transfer that folder to any other computers and when you open the SketchUp file inside it, all of the underlying files will remain linked.

    • @SketchUpSchool
      @SketchUpSchool  Před 3 lety

      There isn't one set of rendering settings that will work best in every scenario. Instead, there are some best practices and strategies that you can use to determine how to best approach different types of renderings. It's a lot more than we can cover in a CZcams video, so we've put all of that information into our V-Ray for SketchUp course and made it available in our Video Course Library. You can learn more about the Video Course Library here: sketchupschool.com/video-course-library

    The first question in mind is "Can you render in the free version?"

    • @SketchUpSchool
      @SketchUpSchool  Před 2 lety +4

      No, there isn't really a way to create realistic renderings from the models you create in SketchUp Free. You would need SketchUp Pro + a photorealistic rendering extension like V-Ray for SketchUp in order to create realistic renderings. (You could try downloading your SketchUp Free file as a .skp file and then try to import it into another software to create a realistic rendering, but it would be easier and less costly to upgrade to SketchUp Pro if you need to create photorealistic renderings).
