I'm pretty sure Jamey Johnson and Ole Maple could sing the alphabet and it would be more country than anything on the radio.
Did you have to mention radio (fakio)
Absolutely
Amen
Damn right you know he could. I'm going to see Jamey and Ol Maple on Aug 21 this year in Middletown Ohio which about half an hour north of Cincinnati. It'll be my first show and I know damn well it's gonna be a good one
We need more George
when you finally crawl out from under your rock and realize that Jamie Johnson wrote this song and gave it to George strait to perform it changes the entire feeling. this is amazing
Nice try, Bill Anderson also had a hand. Just sayin.
@@mt3311 , Also Buddy Cannon
"Gave it" to him? You mean he just Gave it away?
"Give It Away" is a song recorded by American country music artist George Strait, written by Jamey Johnson, Bill Anderson and Buddy Cannon.
Really
I would love to hear Jamey Johnson and Chris Stapleton with 2 acoustic guitars and 2 stools. That would be my dream concert (from current Country "stars").
Sitting here thinking the same thing. Country isn’t dead, it’s just quietly in the background writing songs for everyone else.
Not sure Jamey Johnson really counts as underground, but certainly there are more of the wanna-be pop singers than there are Jamey Johnsons and Chris Stapletons. This phenomenon is not new, by the way. Guys like Willie Nelson and Waylon left Nashville because the powers would not let them record their music. I watch a documentary on the Willie Nelson album "Red Headed Stranger" and one record company executive said, "I still want to edit and produce that album". That specific album is on most list of "top all time" and is STILL selling. But they still want to change it! That is what the Jamey Johnson's of the world are up against!
Agreed.
@@drjsmajor Yes! Nashville is way over rated now days for people trying to get a start. We have a couple of buddies who play as a duo here in Knoxville TN who tried Nashville. Producers and record companies are brutal on the simple man.
Second that!!
The amount of good music that came from this man is insane
Leave that Long Haired Country boy alone and let him do his thing...
"Do his thing"?..........I think wHat you probably ment was "Do his THANG!"

A taste of blues guitaring, and country...WOW!

Forgive me for tearing up but when he sings In Color I lose it, I am a vet and every time he sings the part about the war I can’t help but remember my boys.
Hey boss thanks for the service your boys were great men . Their memories and sacrifice lives on. I'm not a vet, and that song makes me tear up. I can only imagine how it would feel to someone who has seen it in color
Thank you for your service ❤️
Yeah I don't sing that verse anymore for that reason. My Jonnhy McGee was Capt. Nylander, rest in peace brother.
No need to be sorry brother. My youngest son, wife and myself are vets. We cry together almost Everytime we hear that song too. The beginning reminds me of my dad who survived the depression on a farm. The end reminds me of our wedding day. And of course the middle, about my service. I didn't see combat. But I made the best friends I've ever had during my enlistment. 82-89. Field Artillery. US Army. So many had my back. Like no one out here ever has. And several are gone now.
I’ve shed many tears to that song!
Jamey Johnson is one of the all time greats.
I could sit out on my big porch and listen to him all night
Jamey is underrated as a guitarist. He is such a great writer and singer, that I think folks overlook his guitar playing. By God the man can play.
he has done some jamming with Willie
Play a guitar omfg he bends the strings like most can't and his guitar is so sweet i would love to see who has put their signature on it there are quite a few on it and I would say that those signatures are friends who have made a huge impression on him
@@64fairlane305 willy and I think merl is the one that he was inspired by the most and of course Waylon
@@MrMan-dz1yq he has a bunch of good signatures. Willie Nelson signed it upside down for a funny reason. There is a video on CZcams somewhere where it talks about his guitar and all if the signatures on it. I think the video is called old maple or something to that effect. He is great in concert and he was a Marine like me.
Hey big brother is that u

A real guitar 🎸 player who also has the ability to sing 🎤 beautifully. I’m so glad I found this video just to Jamey strum on his guitar 🎸 Born Country plays the blues like it’s no big thing. One of the few artists that really cares about the music anymore and it shows... I'm glad Jamey and a few others still do country music that has the feel and soul that makes it the common man's music..I don't even listen to the radio stations around here anymore it's sad to live 20 miles from Nashville and not be able to find a real country station
I'm right there with ya brother if it ain't Jamey or Chris Stapleton I don't want nothing to do with this modern day garbage coming outta Nashville. It's a shame with the talent that went thru that town back in the 90's to see how far removed from country music it's all became these days. I live about 40 miles east of Cincinnati in a little town called hamersville. Literally ain't even got a stop light or even a stop sign in town. But we've got quite a few so called country music radio stations that come out of Cincinnati and at least 2, 1 being B105 that's been around since at least the late 70's or early 80's and the 94.1 the Star that's been around on 1 fm frequency or another since at least the early 90's that I won't even put on my truck radio anymore. We have 2 fm frequency's being 106.7 and 105.9 which are owned by the same station and play the same songs with 1 station being a few min ahead of the other one that play classic country music which a lot of it is the great music I grew up listening to in the late 80's and 90's and those are the only 2 stations that play in my truck unless I'm on 700WLW am talk radio getting current local news sports and politics from some pretty good disc jockeys one of them being Bill Cunningham which is the same guy that had that talk show or whatever it was on TV there for a few years awhile back. But I couldn't listen to that garbage that comes from these new singers wearing their flat billed hats that think they rappers and country singers. Ain't no such thing as a country rapper. Nashville full of all these confused assholes that don't know if they wanna sing rap or country so they try and mix it together and Nashville tries to shove down our throats which ain't gonna happen to this hillbilly. From what I see it ain't gonna happen to a lot of other folks either. So Nashville can keep that bullshit down there in Tennessee and stop sending it up North this way. Us folks around here like to keep it country. Y'all down south call us Yankees but most of the folks around here got deep southern roots that got us ended up north here because our grandparents left the south back in the 50's and 60's to come up here to Cincinnati chasing work to make a living for their families. So they brought the south and it's traditions here up north. Were as country as apple pie, beans, cornbread, and fried taters and grits. You won't have much luck taking the north south but my papaw brought south north.
Awesome
There's still great music in Nashville. Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson , Jason Isbell, Kacey Musgraves, Todd Snider. The recently passed John Prine signed many to his indy label oh boy records. You just don't hear the great shit on the radio cuz all these idiots want is beer and truck songs. And flag waving songs about 'Merica kickin' ass. All spectacle, no truth or substance. You gotta dig a little, but there's great music out there.
@@davidstrouse5048 you're right there's some great artist out there but you have go see them live pretty much or look really hard for their music... Because they pay their due playing bars, honky-tonks, festivals and other places and sharpen their skills but paying you're dues doesn't seem to matter anymore...if you're not a pretty face willing to conform and be a puppet to the establishment it's hard to have commercial success..im sad to hear John had passed away I've always enjoyed his music...glad he did try to help other artists though.. Take care

Yes he's wrote plenty of good songs over the years,Now he pretty much stays on the road all the time,a lot of people wonder why he hasn't came out with new stuff...several years ago he slipped on ice and hit his head, from what doctors say he's fine but it has affected something in his brain to where he can't focus on writing I don't know, somewhere on CZcams he talks about I don't remember the link.
