AMAZING Vanity Dresser Restoration!

  • In this video I´m restoring a vanity dresser and making a new knob for it!
This style was very popular in Estonia between 1930-1950. In the beginning the furniture corners were very round and towards the 1950-s the corners became more square. So this piece is probably in the center of that era.
They are very common in Estonia even now. People often throw away the mirror and use it as TV cabinet. The knobs are originally made of bakelite or polyoxybenzylmethylenglycolanhydride :) This was something like early plastic.

Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included czcams.com/users/postUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.

Yes, the bakelite official name was polyoxybenzylmethylenglycolanhydride :) It was first time for me making those, so very interesting for me too. The originals are pretty fragile and there are no replicas on sale.
