For those not in the US
If you already have an adequate USB power supply the voltage differences in the US should be irrelevant as it doesnt use a proprietary USB power supply.
USB splitter cable are widely available and tend to be cheap for those that still want to daisy chain, though a better USB power supply may be needed for amps (Depending on what the v3 comes with)

POE and RTSP firmware (if they really do get it out) would make me happy. I currently have 16 Wyze cams (mix of v2 and Pan) all flashed with RTSP firmware. The biggest problem of course is throughput which the POE would be able to solve. The happy part comes in because I was looking at other solutions for POE and RTSP that usually start at $1000+ for that many cameras. Have they given an actual time frame of when they might release the RTSP firmware for the V3?

    • @TaylorTech

Nice review Taylor! Here's my issues with these Wyze Cams (I have multiple V2's) ... the audio sucks (I have a Kasa cam as well and its like night and day difference) and the latency or delay in notifications is way too long. I want to see "what" is happening "when" it's happening, not 19 to 20 seconds AFTER it has happened. (which has been my experience with my version 2's) Again my Kasa's notification lag time is 6 seconds on average. What's your experience been with the V3 with these two features? (if they fix that I'm all over this version!)

Yes, sorry it took me a while to respond. I may or may not have forgotten to test this... But yes it does work with tinycam just like the v2. Just select wyze cam as the camera.

@@TaylorTech thanks for looking into it, I think I’ll be upgrading my interior cameras, hoping they work better in TinyCam Pro/HomeBridge. If you ever get bored and want to do a video on Wyze cams into TinyCam Pro on an Nvidia Shield, and then out to HomeKit via HomeBridge, I’m sure it would get some views.

If I had the hardware, I'd do it. Unfortunately youtube doesn't pay too well for small creators.

@@TaylorTech do you use HomeKit/HomeBridge at all? I’d be willing to loan you a pi and a shield if you were up to giving it a shot. I tried to use the instructions from this video, but couldn’t get the copy function to work so the pi wasn’t trying to process the video. If you go to my page you can see a video I posted of the video quality from the Home app vs the Wyze app, you can mainly see it if you look at the ceiling fan, the motion gets much smoother when the video switches to the Wyze app. czcams.com/video/LdcP0j9lyrw/video.html

ATTENTION ALL WYZE CAMERA OWNERS: you have to now be warned, Wyze cameras do not offer free on board storage of videos to Sd Card, they now are making everyone who wants more than live view, Cam Plus which costs $1.99 per camera per month, a frikken rip..... doesn't work right anyway paid $19.00 for a year of headaches and distress

The cam itself is fine, but do comparisons as to how typical consumer figures out how to use its features and what it all has or can do. Unbox it and i'll tell you I want it to be at this certain setting and use there specific features so how do i set that ?? A typical consumer, not you, is going to go through a lot of trial and error and take a little time figuring things out. FACT: I called WYZE and they stated they have no manuals or reference listing as to how to go about things. Just look at forums page with account they setup for you and figure it out yourself. I would not encourage anyone to buy WYZE unless they have more expertise operating security cameras. REMEMBER: you talk with experience and comparisons but give it to a typical consumer and ask them to set it up to certain specs and features.

Does this camera always have to be plugged in a wall socket to be powered on or can it be "stand alone" as well through constant charging and recharging?

    • @TaylorTech

There is no batter in this camera. So it will need to be plugged in at all times.

Many people requested I install it this way. Much easier to run power inside to a near outlet than outside either through a wall or to a far away outdoor outlet. Plus the power brick is not weather resistant. Hope that clears it up for you.
