MM’s comment about supporting younger drummers and newer channels is great and I’ve also tried to do the same! Both of you have provided awesome support to the drum cover community!

Much appreciated, Ash! Want to join us for part 2? I've asked Earl as well. So it will potentially be a 4 person convo.

What you said at around the 33:00 minute mark makes perfect sense about reaching out and finding new channels but you might not return to that channel unless they are engaging back. Also thanks for the mention!

Awesome conversation. I just put a lot of work in it and posted a cover every 2-3 days over 1 year. I try to support new and upcoming bands like Bloodorn for example. Really challenging drum parts but not that famous.
Eric love that dog - so cute! We've got 3 dogs man! 🤘🤘🤘

He's our baby, just a little over 1 year. We have 3 other chihuahua mixes :) Consistency and patience are so important! Thanks for watching, Tobi!

Really enjoyed this conversation. I personally think Audio is key starting out, then move your focus once you get better.

Glad you liked it, Jordan! I think it's easier to watch a rough video if the audio is decent. The reverse is not true :) So, in short, I agree :)

Great show Eric and Matthew. I think there is a lot of good information here. Here are few comments from the peanut gallery. CZcams drumming is not the same as six years ago, let alone six months ago. I do the think the old model for channel growth is a much longer road for YT drummers today. That said, if you are willing to pay for advertising on Google you will grow. The problem is there is no money in drum cover content. Most of us do this “YT thing” for the love of drumming and getting feedback from the community. I can tell you that my channel growth came from consistent uploading of content and playing a variety of musical genres and my original content. Today, that’s not enough for growth … now we have a “YT shorts” world … no attention span. This is disheartening for us lovers of music! But short snips get more views. This has forced me to rethink some of my ways … more to come on this. The most important thing why I do this is community, but I don’t have time for multiple social media communities. So this is it. I find that the idea of reciprocal support has waned from the drummer video creators, but not the drummers that love watching good drummers. I have many great subs and a wonderful community of drummers and other musicians that like my music choices. So, much so that they are the reason I post video almost every day. Lastly, I’m an anomaly, I have a life with family, church, and a full time day gig, but I have developed a way to make drum covers easily that sound good and look okay. But that’s how I grew my channel for six years … hard work, the love of music, and a drive to play music better. I hope that is seen in my drum covers and CZcams content.

Well said Earl! I agree it’s a different landscape than 6 years ago and shorts tend to get double the views as full length videos. Thanks for sharing your insights.

This makes a lot of sense! Maybe a "part 2" of this discussion needs to happen where we can discuss some of what you've mentioned. Interested in joining us for a part 2?

@@DrumAttic I’d love to! Let me know when. I just dropped a video on CZcams Shorts today …. It seems to be a viable discussion point for my subs!
