But, there's something about Kai, whenever he dances, that always makes me just transfixed and mesmerized. Can we just appreciate the fact that Kai prepared this choreography (he co choreographed with Mihawk), the concept (the changing lights and white backgrounds were his idea) down to the wardrobe in less than a day???? And in between touring! The wildest part is that because of the short time, he feels like it’s not perfect and he’s displeased with some parts? The name of the routine is door. His name Kai means open so it’s supposed to represent opening the door to different aspects of his life. Mihawk was going through creative block and he felt like he had peaked creatively, Jongin felt like he was being stifled and needed to be free express himself. The outfit he wore (the jacket and corset are supposed to make us feel this) the changing lights represent different points in this struggle for freedom. The red represents emancipation and that’s why he’s moves are freer and it’s more aggressive.
Kai is my fav part very emotional and I love this.. Kai is my fav dancer and for me he is the best dancer I never get boring in his videos unlike other kpop dancers

I could feel each of those first few pops right in my own gut and I couldn't breathe during his whole performance (maybe it was lucky for my sake that it was so short LOL). Fun fact: Did you notice that at one point in Ten's dance he spelled his name with his body? If you didn't see it the first time, go back and look. When they say T E N. He makes the letters with his body.:D Taemin actually started out as a self-taught popper and locker as his primary dance style. What you see him doing now is a little bit of every style which he has evolved into his own style over more than 12 years as a dancer. SM had originally intended for SHINee to be a hip-hop group, so Taemin started his training in more hip-hop style dances. So, he has a very solid background as a popper. But as you have seen, he has now incorporated a lot of the body isolation and ticking movements into his more contemporary, modern style of dancing. Over the years, Taemin's style of dance has evolved and now he has created a style that is all his own. That's why it's almost impossible to copy what he does, because it's so technically advanced and can't really be defined. Taemin is so unique that it's no surprise you are having a hard time trying to describe his style. :D There really are no words that accurately describe what makes Taemin such a legend. Also, if you notice, at the beginning of Kai's dance it looks like he is trying to open a door. Kai means door or gateway, so this dance was created by Kai with that in mind. Kim JongIn's stage name is Kai because as EXO's center in the group, his name is supposed to symbolize his role as the door or gateway in EXO's storyline -- that's also why he was given the superpower of teleportation because he is able to transport himself anywhere as if he is a door that connects all the EXO and SuperM members together, etc. Also something to note, is that SHINee's fan color is aqua blue/green and NCT's fan color is green and, although EXO's fan color isn't red, red plays a big role within EXO's storyline (which represents the Red Force). So the colors you see in this performance are, I think, a nod to their individual groups, as well as a part of SuperM's storyline. You will also see all 3 of these colors prominently featured in all of SuperM's teaser videos for each of the members and the group as well.
In Kai's "The Door" he represent the silent desesperation of secure man that can't just open a door so he start lost confidence & you can see his many stages of emotions while he keep trying to open the door. Yet he never gets throught the door until the very end when he quietlly stops trying. Very modern influencied dance. Is one of the best pieces that the partening between Kai/ hawk have ever created together. It just flow so artistically and let you so quiet at the end. It was the one created on the shortest time so it was too short too, but very impactfull more so when you know that the very reason they created this short piece is to help Mihawk (kai is choreographer, trainer & friend) to get out of his creative block and let Kai close the door to so many past bad emotionally situations that happen to him in that year

Ten, Taejon and Kai along with Jimin of BTS are the 4 best dancers in Kpop. Others are just as good technical but for music interpretation, fluidity and conveying emotions these 4 can’t be beat
They are stunning, but there are so many more great dancers out there in Kpop. Please don't disrespect them, only because you don't know them yet, or they are not your bias. I love Shinee, so I am obviously a Taemin stan in Super M, but in this one I liked Kai's performance the most.
