- What are your core values and are you using them to improve the quality of your life and your work? Part of discovering what values exist at your core is looking back at the failures and triumphs of life to improve and ensure a successful future.
James Franklin is approaching his second season as the head coach of Penn State’s Football program. Franklin was named the 16th head football coach in the storied 127-year history of the Nittany Lion program on January 11, 2014. A two-time All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) quarterback at East Stroudsburg University, Franklin has demonstrated the ability to recruit, teach and motivate talented student-athletes throughout his coaching tenure. Franklin graduated from East Stroudsburg in 1995 with a degree in psychology. He also earned a master's degree in educational leadership from Washington State University.

Yep
“Stay away from negative people, they have a problem for every solution.”
-Albert Einstein
It's truly inspiring to see people reawakening to long-lost and forgotten values. This shift is crucial if we intend to progress further😇
***RELATIONSHIP IS THE KEY
1. Positive Attitude
2. Work Ethic
3. Compete in everything u do. Ur skill transfers to ur life!
4. Sacrifice! (Stay Locked In!)
4:04 You’re welcome
Thank you.
Thanks man!
Thank god
Very inspiring to all of us, thank you! Watched on April 27th, 2020.
Inspirational message. Thank you.
Watching this now with my high school incoming freshman footballer. Great talk!
Dear TEDx Talks :), I would like to say, thank you, to you, for taking the time, energy and effort to both upload and share this video with the youtube community. Thank You, TEDx Talks!
How much did you get paid to write this?
loved this video
LEGEND
Compete with YOURSELF, be a better version each day!
Competing with others causes for you to make comparisons all the time which will result illogical disappointments or/and beating yourself.
When taken in isolation, that may be true; however, the first core value he talks about is building relationships, and the second is attitude. When taken as a whole, which is how they should be taken, competing under such team conditions will lead to growth.
Actually I prefer to not be in competition with anyone and yet still cultivate my own growth. I am not my own enemy, I don’t need to compete with me.
He talk about core values and work habits
Great Talk!
Beautiful

Really enjoyed video.
Inspirational talk! Can be challenging to implement, but one day at a time :D
James Franklin later went on to become B1G Ten Coach Of The Year after last year's signature win over no. 2 Ohio State and beating no. 6 Wisconsin in the B1G Ten Championship Game. Nobody thought that he would be able to do anything, but he turned Penn State's season around last year and got them into the Rose Bowl, which they lost to no. 9 USC. He'll be head coach at Penn State for a very long time.
I’m a Trojan. Fight on ✌️
I love how much power and ethos this comment adds to the speech. Thanks
WE ARE!!
It's like reading his CV
Phenomenal
Dont read the comments, watch the video
LOL Exactly. H8rs.
Too late, already read yours
You don't need to watch the video... He's only talking... and showed only 3 pictures...
Lol why don’t read the comments?
@@nikhilpatel2095 was he supposed to dance? moron
Was my homework. Was boring.
Dear Mr. Franklin, if you are singing the same songs with the same tuning, working together, pulling the rope in the same direction and building a sense of community, how are you going to do all of that by instilling a spirit of competition instead of collaboration? Thanks.
I have to watch this for personal finance homework 📚 😤🙄
Luna Fenderson you didn’t like it?
👀
Actually makes sense!

I made a video about values OWN THEM - same same but different.

You may consider me a Penn State fan from this moment forward...
KSU Wildcats go!
Competing with others is not a good idea ( it creates egoistic a**holes )...competing with your past self is the only way to growth.
International now buddy!

Looking at these comments but you also have to understand if JF practices what he preaches (he does) the choices he made this time last year to remove an OC and replace coaches must have been tough. But they were very necessary to get PSU to where it is now.

I think the philosophy also wins games :)
So much negativity in the comments, wow
This guy is very self absorbed. He only talked about himself for over the first quarter of the video. Nice that he got to bounce around for all those years but most of us had to get a job to support ourselves instead, which BTW is also a real good way to learn core values.
Kathleen Calhoun did you learn anything from it!!
@@ShamielSpeaks no she did not. she failed to see that he was aspiring to create a better reality for everyone. a reality that starts with yourself....the easiest person the change!
You should definitely have more free time. Quit your job and find one that makes you feel powerfull about yourself. Spend more days having the day to be 'willingly'. A day nothing has to be done.
So many TED talks feature a speaker who begins by sharing their story.
A lot of these people don't belong in these facilities! Some of the workers may!
The values of the home and family life succeed, never apart from our wonderful creator - LORD and Savior Who is Jesus Christ; but only in Him.

Are company values and company purposes just a way to mentally manipulate employees into doing work?
Trace McSorely
Man, this is a bad video, according to TED standards.
The title is wrong!
He's just listing THEIR core values.
It should be named "Core values of ... , who are really successful at what they do" Or something like that.
Anyway, glad I skipped the first bit, and later more.
I came here because I liked the title. Apparently that doesn't get answered.
What put more

I don't agree James Franklin because Matthew MacAughey has this view point of keeping positive, but the world doesn't see Paul mentioning to Timothy that He is going home.
Having core values seems like way too much work. I'm only on this trashcan for so long. Think I'll just wing it and live life on my own terms. Nice energy though.
I always feel like company values are a way to trick people into doing work.
He likes to ignore that whole Vanderbilt thing, character obviously isn’t a big deal. Morals are a sliding scale for some people. Snake oil salesmen are very enthusiastic by nature.
Not for me this one. Too much emphasis on competition and a very aggressive tone.
same
What a crock, Franklin tried to attack a Penn State fan after Penn State's tough one point loss to Ohio State. Franklin had to be restrained by security.
As a Football coach myself. When a Fan throws criticism at you from a stadium seat following a heart breaking loss. Blames you instead of the OG missed his block. You become a little heated. IDC who you are. That fan should of never called him out like that. HC takes so much BS and negitve criticism it's very stressful. Let me ask you personally. How many football games you won as a Head Football Coach???
@Wired Horse Girl Thank You 😊
what about ppl who talk a lot about money, do this professions since its make and potential to make lot money but you dont enjoy it. everything is about making lot lot lot money
I don’t agree! No one grows in positive. Negative brings growth.
did this man say 2 and a half kids
When I hear about nourishing healthy relationships, I wanna puke my guts out.
One more thing, the man thinks it makes him exceptional that he spent that much time studying people, studying people, and one more time, studying people. Don't want to disappoint him, but we all study people all the time, that's what we have to do in order to survive.
+poohoff He already threw one of his coaches under the bus. The one he fired was a very good choice as a start. He's a good judge of people who suck at their jobs. But as far as studying his players and figgering out what needs to be done to help them improve...well, he's totally lost about that aspect of "people study" as it applies to winning football games.
oh yeah joe LOL
Those guys have all the same show . They always think the world is revolving around them . Worse are all the goons who pays to listen to all those scammers .
lol ok grandpa
My, does he stops from time to time and listens to what he's saying? Creativity below zero!
That's your story not core values.
Dude, telling your own story before you tell something that's interesting is super boring.
No need for that man.
Just start with the main course. Anyway, I'll just skip that part.
Who here watches a show called “This is us”?
me
what does that have to do with this
@@elle07977 man, that was over 3 years ago, I have no idea why I asked that.
The only thing entertaining is the comments
full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
Wasted
7 minutes in and still said nothing of any substance, repetitive drivvle,,,
Leon Summerfield you don’t think there was good points in?
Should have stuck with psychology.
