talking about the safety in TW it should be thought twice.... I have a friend from Europe who rode a scooter then met an accident yap.... legs broken, now in hosp. the traffic is always dangerous and also I don't think ppl in TW r friendly when they r in some vehicle.....
You can always get by with some simple and colloquial expressions in mandarin in Taiwan but if you want to get involved in the society you probably have to spend more time speaking mandarin in the daily life. Having a boyfriend helps you improve your mandarin or even consider to settle down in Taiwan. Having your own scooter or bike gives you the advantage to travel around in Taiwan but don't expect you can always circumvent the punishment if you violate the traffic regulations and tell the police you aren't familiar with the local circumstance.
I was joking about the traffic rules, I always ride slow to make sure reading all of the traffic signs. Thanks a lot for the warning ⚠️ She just came here and I'm sure she'll learn some Mandarin once she properly settles 😉
