It's hard to believe this actually happened.
Here are my reactions to the first episode of Roze of the Recapture

So Neo Britannia conquered All of Japan? What have the Black Knights done in all this time? If the entire world is back at war then the Zero Requiem and Lelouch have been spat upon.

@@alanpena8643 what Lelouch did was to flip the board. or put in other words, have the oppressive powers be the rebels aka the black side of the chess match. This is reinforced by Lelouch of the resurrections where the peaceful democratic countries are the biggest powers in the world, while a country that lives of arms dealings have to fight them to to have a hope of thriving themselves. He didn't make the whole world peaceful, that's impossible, he gave the world a state much like ours after ww2.
They call our time period after ww2 for "the great peace" because big countries have not had wars with other big countries, but big vs small and proxywars are still on all the time.
If the creators didn't chicken out on their third season all those years ago, this symbolism would be more easily picked up on by people. Lelouch of the Ressurection was supposed to be a third season for the main canon show, not an alternative timeline.

@@alanpena8643 Just Hokkaido, not the entire country, ZR was only to reset the board and give the world a chance to move forward peacefully. Whether peace ensues is only determined by the actions of people and their freewill, it is not ensured simply beacue ZR happened. If you think ZR is just some magic trick that would guarantee world peace think again.

So far this was ok for what it is!!! That new knightmare frame that Ash had was nice!!! The twist was not expected because I avoided all the leaks. The new animation for Geass was weird but ok for now I guess. So I guess this show is gonna be a rescue adventure to get the twin back 😒🙄 Great reaction btw!! Totally agree with your thoughts on the OP and overall storyline

I don't know if the writers intended it but during the First Black rebellion, there was a scene where it shows areas of Japan where uprisings where taking place and surprisingly Hokaido is shown to be firmly in Britannian hands.

the irony there is hilarious because they had a barrier since 2017 that was supposed to prevent that from happening

    • @bluespaceman7937
      @bluespaceman7937 Před 17 dny +5

Keep in mind that this episode also mentions Hokkaido was under Britannian control for a while, even before the current invasion, when the two evil brothers were present. In that sense, it's not hard to reconcile that part. If there is an issue, it would be with how the barrier was used and when it was active, but that's currently unclear.

There's a difference between necessary information and desired information. Even in the original Code Geass, there's a lot of things they either don't tell us right away (Lelouch's background as a character isn't clear at the start, it takes a while to come out, and some details are only explained during episode 7's flashback). There's also topics they only explained with picture dramas and similar extra materials, not in the main story. I share a few of your concerns in terms of how the invasion happened, although to a lesser extent, but I can also understand they didn't want to frontload the answers to such questions. It'd also take the focus away from the introduction of the new characters if they had this whole elaborate flashback with the old cast.

This. The impatience he demonstrated is a frustrating. Who expects the entire plot to be explained in a intro of all things when a lot of the leftout info could be big reveals going forward.

Hokkaido is the second biggest sakuradite mine, that's why it was a target. Fleyas are hard to dispose off and Lelouch never did take are of all of them so these are the leftovers from Schnitzel's stockings. Also let's not overestimate the power of the black knights. Their only trumpcard--Kallen was lucky to have survived Resurrection considering how many times she got defeated and caught out in kmf combat. As the losing side of the last major world conflict, the Black Knights wouldn't have been able to have any power left it it wasn't for ZR, a plan they weren't in on. And with further demilitarization efforts with the short peace they have, it would be natrual for them to be a in vulnerable state.

Opening was good, but you are right it doesn't feel like a code geass anime opening.
There are aspects to the anime that mirror the world, like the world being at peace once lelouch died closely resembles aspects of everything after ww2 which was labeled the war to end all wars. Didn't take long for conflicts/wars to pop up and even doe the united nations had the strongest army by members did not actually have any military power themselves so fragmentation was always going to be a problem. They could've easily made up an explanation about it in this episode.
The flying mechs although cool does kinda invalidate all other knightmares so i can see their reservation for including them here, they could've just used the explanation that, that particular technology was guarded and only used for certain kightmares within britainia.
Japan being the point of conflict could easily been attributed to the sakuradite mines within the country, and the force field has been engineered to negate all knightmares powered by sakuradite.
I guess after R2 they couldn't keep the story going forward without lelouch and simply bringing him back would piss off the fan base, and quickly turn away all leftover support for the series. I would of taken a prologue to see the history that CC has lived thru, but this feels very forced and almost unnecessary. Like the 1st episode for what it is but this show will be heavily scrutinized by the loyal fan base and fail to see how it'll capture any new audience.

I agree the whole world idea of Area 11 returned again because of this barrier. I guess it is possible since the Damocles' barrier was only able to get pass because they lowered a section of it. Since it looks like they have a Damocles or a prototype of one or one in construction can explain why the barrier has lasted so long. Hopefully in the next episode, they do provide more world building to explain more of this to give understanding. The geass animation was interesting as rather than being from sight the person had to hear the command and it looks like Roze's Geass is about choice. They can choose to change their ways or they can die. Be interesting to learn more about how Roze got it but I would guess they only had for maybe a year or so. Since the nameless mercenaries they go by only have been operating for a year can be the point when Roze became when they got their Geass. Just glad there is new Code Geass content, hope it is worth it!

I don't know. The wall is certainly a plot contrivance. But if you allow that, I think the rest makes sense.
Besides the opening narration, the first episode of OG Code Geass was also very unclear on things likes Lelouch's background.
Some of your criticism seems a bit off, like the lack of backstory on the resistance group. Do you have the same opinion on Ohgi's group from the original?

You say the show could be something that people can enjoy in the future as it goes on Because so far I've seen other people's opinions on it And And it's been pretty positive so far So do you believe it's possible for people to look back at the show And say that was a point of history in the show, which I actually enjoyed Do you think it's possible even if they don't fix the things you personally Critical of in the future that you could look back at this show and say you know what it's better than I remembered.
