Changing the engine oil, filter and sump gasket on a Petrol Land Rover Series 3

Welcome to my pre-amble and draining the oil, removing the oil filter and sump off the series 3. Then a new gasket on the sump and put back together.

Thanks for the detailed info. Just changed the oil in the overdrive of my 1965 series 2a. Bit difficult for Landy breathing here in Telluride at 9600 ft, but gets by.

... i dont know should oil be black from a petrol motor? perhaps too long oil change?

Unless you do an oil change very very frequently, the oil will come out blacker and blacker as time goes on, petrol or diesel. Mine was still quite goldeny brown as it had not done many miles.
