Hi Reshmi - from a digestion standpoint, it's best to wash and soak the daal for at least 2 hours (more is better) and then drain that water. Then proceed as usual.
Also, the water that you drained after you cooked the daal, can be used to make a spicy soupy drink. Add zeera, ground coriander, your aamchar masala, garlic minced, etc. plus a souring agent such as tamarind or lemon juice to it - it makes for a yummy soup type drink. Can add a bit of flour to thicken it up or even add a bit of rice and cook that in it. somewhat like chole ka paani.
The sweet version is called puran poli

Rashmi, You are one of my absolute favorite food youtubers ❤️ I made roti today using this method, and its the best I've ever made.. My little brother was murdered back home 3 years ago, and since then, I've been making making and selling rotioff and on, where I live in upstate New York to help my sister in-law take care of their children. You are helping in ways you may never know.
May the creator continue to bless up you and your growing family..

Hi Reshmi, Thank you ever soooooo much! I finally made this right here in my very own kitchen. I was so upset when I went to a ROTI SHOP in ATL to purchase a Veggie Roti that cost me $11.00 (no meat!!!!) That's what put me on the hunt for the kind of Roti that I love. Your instructions were perfect. 🙂 Thank you!

This is the best ever dhalpuri recipe I've seen to date (honestly, all your recipes are incredible with detailed explanations to help a novice like me!) I especially found using hot water to knead for a softer roti is a really good tip I never knew before - and will definitely be doing from now on as I am The Worst at making roti (better at making dough frisbees lol). Thank you so much Reshmi 💕. Dhalpuri is my absolute favourite ever since I was a child! I hope you and your family are all doing well and enjoy the upcoming Easter holidays. Sending you lots of love xxxxxxx

As a NY Rican I’ve been obsessed w/ curried chana and potatoes with dhalpuri for as long as I can remember. I was also obsessed w/ curried chicken (when I used to eat meat). I almost think I can make this😅. It looks so doable but I need to get a griddle or tawa. If I succeed, my family better watch out because we’ll be eating it often.😂
Now off to look through your videos to see if you have a recipe for doubles and my life will be complete.🤤 TYSMFS💞

I've watched yr other buss up shot video and followed the directions and recipe and for the first time I made buss up shot yesterday and my family loved it. I too was born and raised in Trinidad 🇹🇹 but grew up in New York before I migrated to Canada 🇨🇦 and now after many yrs I'm finally learning to make our island food , so I'm happy to have learned from yr videos. My next food will definitely be dhalphurie and I will be following this exact recipe for sure. Thanks for the info.

I tried to make it today and didn’t use your measurements cause i wanted to try with a small portion first😬 my dough started cracking and easy to pull apart instead of that gummy texture you got. Can you tell me what i did wrong ? 🙈 either i used too much butter or water.. and also my rotis did not swell up while baking on the griddle. It turned into stale crackers texture 🤦🏽‍♀️Maybe not enough baking powder ? 😅 i’m sorry i’m a mess and need help 🙏🏽
