    Ireland are a superb team. Precise and faultless. England battled very well and showed that despite their transitional period, when it counts, they will front up to anyone. Very proud of both teams and the hug between Farrell senior and Farrell junior summed up rugby for me. The brotherhood of Rugby, whether English, Irish, Welsh, Scottish, Saffa, Australian, Kiwi, all give their best and all true Rugby nuts give respect. Because they all know its earned. There is no better team than a rugby one, whatever your nationality. Battle like hell ,but buy your opposing number a pint afterwards, smile and have a hug. That is rugby, the best and most virtuous team sport in the world. Long may it continue.

    I remember many, many moons ago in a bar down under. An all black supporter and I were talking rugby. He had explained to me in detail how most of the worlds best teams raise their game to a level even they knew nothing of. They play out of their skin while against the all blacks, for they know it’s a game of all or nothing. This is what I see as a neutral, when teams play Ireland. The game of the team is raised beyond anything they’ve done before. England played the best rugby they possibly could, because they knew it was the only chance they had of victory. Yet, Ireland being the world number one rode the storm. They’ve learned to not panic. Instead, they seek refuge in unity, knowing those around them have their back. Once England tired, Ireland attacked. It was always going their way, they just decided when.

That red card for Steward was harsh. Was sorry he was sent off. Some questionable refereeing decisions over this 6nations. Happy that Ireland 🇮🇪 won the Grand Slam -deserving winners overall ✨☘️🎉

    • @leangrypoulet7523
      @leangrypoulet7523 Před rokem +1

      Couldn’t agree more with your post.
      Great 6Ns overall (still greatest rugby tournament on earth) and Ireland deserved winners. It’s their fitness, discipline and cohesion in the last 20 that makes them the stand out team. Amazing what AF has done with the limited resources. But can it be maintained until the RWC? I can’t see it. It might, yet again, be a case of peaking too early. I can see France being fitter and matching Ireland in the last 20 come Sept/Oct, and I think if they do, their extra ‘ je ne sais quoi’ (French flair) will give them the edge.
      As for refs, you’re spot on. But it’s ironic that questionable performances cannot be questioned. These matches are no longer a pub match between gentlemen on a windy Sunday afternoon. If being really narrow minded, too much money is involved for the bad decisions of one person to be constantly covered over by the IRB.
      But thinking more holistically, it’s about history, it’s about reputation, it’s about World Cup seeding, it’s about careers, and for some it can be about who’s name is etched on the silverware. So the idea that the man/woman at the heart of these great games cannot have their performance brought into question, let alone there be any debate about improved standards, is palpably wrong.
      Right. Pause, refresh and bring on the RWC.

    • @seanbonella

    • @leangrypoulet7523
      @leangrypoulet7523 Před rokem

      @@IAMJEFFREY-cw9ns Yup, according to me. It's called 'my opinion'. You can have one too, but without being such a sarcastic twat.
      Having said that, if you've not been born and raised on the 6Ns you will never understand the rivalries between nations.
      This is not like a NZ v SA rivalry which is only about the rugby, these are rivalries (generally good humoured) that go back hundreds of years and are mor than just rugby.
      Also the format, the imbalance between Home and Away, that it's annual, that geographically it's so close thousands of fans travel to matches, that there are no pool matches with 100 point scorelines, etc etc.
      World Cup? Great to be able to watch two months of rugby, but best tournament ? Nah. It doesn't get going until the QFs, the rest is padding bar the odd good match. And I say this having been five world cups.
      As I said at rhe top. If you've not been born and raised in any of the 5N (as that's mainly where the history and rivalry comes from) and watched the matches and the format for the past 45 years (as I have) or if luckier, longer, you'll never get it. And I say this as a Kiwi raised in London, so I've been following AB rugby for the same period.
      But that's my opinion. You can have yours and enjoy your 'greatest' tournament too.
      PS. I'm not Irish, so WTF their winning a RWC or not has anything to do with a tournament being the greatest or otherwise, I have no idea.

I think you will be ok during the World Cup because you can take massive heart from that fact. And I hope we’re still in a good place come the World Cup 😂 gonna be an amazing tournament with the SH yet to play this year and you can guarantee that New Zealand will be better again this year as well as Australia and Argentina. In saying that, I would prefer if the law said those kind of tackles were a yellow. When I first started watching rugby that probably would’ve been a penalty and done with.

I was amazed, genuinely surprised, that we held off the Irish attack for so long, especially when down to 14 man.....but as we have so often seen, they ominously change up a gear in intensity and finish their job in style.
