  • Because BBC Three has came back as a channel I thought it would be a good time to upload the entire (well excluding Little Britain) 2003 launch party for BBC Three seeing no one else has. Now compare this to what we've got now. We've really came a long way

BBC Three is now a fully grown legal adult (why does that make me feel old)

The fact that BBC Three(well, the original) turns 20 next year is quite a nostalgia blast(that and the CBBC Channel).
Although, in one ident, the announcer for Three mentions BBC Choice, so that would be early days(from another CZcamsr)

"This is the live launch of a free to air station dedicated to the very best in British talent"
The station goes on to air Family Guy and American Dad!, both American productions

Eventually, but not at the start when Stuart Murphy was controller. He launched Three Non Blondes and Little Britain (remember them?). Played Dom Jolly, & Paul and Pauline Calf on launch night (the real launch night - no idea what this video above is supposed to be). When he scheduled our wonderful documentary series Body Hit in the middle of all the comedy, we thought we'd tank. To everyone's surprise BH with John Marsden spiked a higher audience than Steve Coogan and the lovely Mr Jolly. We were hardly terribly pleased at all/. Just a tiny bit of triumphing. Anyway. All those acts were/are British.

It was much better when the channel was named BBC Choice and had a mixture of BBC One and Two programming as well as original BBC Choice programming such as Liquid News and Come Fly With Me, and it was much better when the Children's BBC Brand was merged, not separated and when it was on BBC One and BBC Two, 1999 to 2001 was the best era of the BBC.
