I completely agree with being polite to each other, and we do have one of the best police forces in the world. But do not equate this situation to people in the street. No UK auditors, argue in a traffic stop, as our traffic laws don’t allow it. UK videos where people are refusing to ID themselves, are legitimate cases of police overstepping the mark and abusing their authority. If this goes unchallenged, you will see how quickly we return to the type of policing that was prevalent when I grew up.

The key to this all ending well was that the Police officers were friendly. If they start off friendly then they are far less likely to get someone's back up. The moment they start off with the "What are you doing here? We think you're a criminal" approach that's when people respond badly and it just escalates. They should use this video for training Police officers.

@@OffbeatRefrigerator The Police officer asked to see the photos because clearly the property is a high category location from a National Security perspective. The officer was verifying the veracity of the biker's claims / statements. You are the kind of person who would be the first to criticise the Police if they didn't bother to check the legitimacy of a claim and something bad happened as a result. By the way - "Friendly" doesn't mean "Your friend" - it's a style which is non-threatening and, in this case, it resulted in a very pleasant exchange. When the freeloaders are in residence Plod puts snipers out in in the bushes. If you use certain types of lights the sights on their guns fluoresce.

My first reaction was shit what have I done wrong but he didn't pull me over just stayed behind me for quite a while so I decided to pull up at a petrol station to let him ride on. Well he pulled up beside me and introduced himself. Said he'd noticed my NI plates and asked me loads of questions about the Irish Road racing scene. He was chuffed when I told him I was from Joey Dunlops home town and drank in Joey bar and that I lived 10 mins away from the North West circuit. Decent guy 😂.

UK (EU) Driving licenses now have photo ID so they can ID you via the PNC and match your face with the one on your license
You are required to produce these items but not carry them with you (a stolen car with these documents in it can "pass off" as the legal owner) usually you are issued a form called a HORT1 which gives you 7 days to produce the documents at a convenient police station
