  • Why does my bottom machine not show a picture like in the commercial, or book? The problem might be the angle or mount of your transducer.

    The best video would be showing AND explaining many of the image settings and definition of many of these new terms so people that are just now upgrading from old timey fish finders can understand how to capture better images!

    I just purchased the Elite TI. My issue is I'm running twin V8's. therefore I had to mount the transducer basically in between the two lower units. I'm not fishing, I just bought it for the plotter capability's . That and to check depth near and around docks.

    what ohms should the thing read on a vom??

  • @3dakesx
    @3dakesx Před 6 lety +5

    The installation book says 1/8 of an inch from the bottom of the boat. You basically want a clean water flow from the back of the boat right through the transducer.

    If you keep your boat in the water, what do you do if the transducer gets covered in algae? Do you need to clean it before using it? And how with out damaging it?

    So..... Hes saying that if you have a "Stepped" hull that it will not work at any speed?? How is that possible so many boats have a stepped hull and many transducers work just fine. What is it with stepped hulls that this transducer will not work at any speed?? Thanks for the video sir.

    • @jwar2163
      @jwar2163 Před 6 lety

      On the stepped hulls sometimes the transducer is mounted up above the the lowest part of the hull As is the case with the boat in the video. When water is traveling under the boat at speed it has a tendency to have air mixed in with the water( This is when at plane or on plane). With a stepped hull the potential for turbulence is greater thus negating the effectiveness of the transducer. Being that a stepped hull is designed to lift the boat to help it plane. Here is a link for better understanding of a stepped hull. www.navaldesign.co.za/articles.html

    Hello , I have the Total scan TD , and I have no reading after about 9 knots. Is this normal, or should I play with the location? Thanks Russ

      Same here even with a Dealer Install.

    • @jwar2163
      @jwar2163 Před 6 lety +1

      You are experiencing cavitation ( air interfering) at the transducer. AKA interference I fixed this issue with my Skeeter by moving the transducer to a better location. Not all boat dealers are versed in installation of fishing equipment especially true of dealerships that sale pleasure craft I.E Ski boats more so than fishing boats. Also note that not all transducers are designed to work at higher speeds. I have both High speed transducers and trolling speed transducers installed on my boat along with a transducer dedicated for my Electric Downriggers for bottom tracking.

  • @tcbridges
    @tcbridges Před 6 lety +1

    My Question is is the bottom of the transducer or the flat surface of the mounting bracket that should be along the run line of the hull

  • @Rem1061
    @Rem1061 Před 6 lety +6

    Parallel to the bottom of the boat my butt. How about parallel to the surface of the water? Many (not all I know) boats when going slow or resting, the back of the boat is at a pretty good angle., If you adjust your transducer so it is inline with the boats hull, then it will be at an angle also. A lot of the energy will be lost because of that.

    I recently purchased the latest HDS 7 Live with Active 3 in 1 transducer and I suppose what is being said in this video applies to my transducer, it will not read the bottom after 5kn, absolutely useless to me, why don't they tell you before you buy that it will not work above a certain speed. Now I've got to fork out for another transducer that will suit my boat. Well done Lowrance

    great video- I dont know why people complain---maybe because you buy them a new unit and install it for them. Anyway, I have the lss2- I assume its the same, parallel with the bottom of boat I've seen some people say 1/8" below, bottom of boat. Thanks

  • @nex-usofwealthbuildersllc1403

    isn't that transducer facing the wrong way? Or does that transducer have two rounded ends? If the front end is flat shouldn't it be mounted in the opposite direction...

      shadowcasters- and they are the bomb. Great for swimming, fishing, or just lighting up the area around the boat. Not cheap but worth every cent if you are going to install marine lighting that you can depend on in all sorts of conditions.
