  • Come to find out I’m missing a boot around my steering column. I called Polaris and got a case number then called my local dealer and had them file it. They’re supposed to call me when it’s in and fix it.
    I’ve also noticed that when putting it in high (all the way back) it needs you to firmly pull it into gear or it might pop out of high. Which is a common problem I’ve had on all of my Polaris rangers.
    Sorry for the camera holder peg on video 🙃
    This is the material to line your back panel for sounded deadening ⬇️

    Im picking this same unit up today. I checked, and it has a square rubber flap around the steering rod and the recall clutch kit. I added the rock sliders, side mirrors, corbin custom turn sugnal kit, and polaris front bumper with rigid lights and shackles. It's gonna look good behind my sterling silver GMC AT4HD Duramax!! I enjoy your videos, Ben. Coming from a 2022 Polaris general XP1000 😊

    Excellent review!
    Something we did for both the heat and noise issues. Between the floor and skid plates is a lot of open space. Most of the hot air coming up around the shifter is coming from the rear from the clutch exhaust vent blowing across the manifold. The tunnel for the prop shaft is wide open from front to back. I dropped the skid plate and stuffed the whole underneath with poly-fil, only making sure it wouldn’t interfere with the prop shaft. Also stuffed the center console area under the box and fuses and around the cup holders and shifter. I can now leave a soda in the cup holders without it getting hot and no more hot air coming up the shifter.
    It also drastically reduced the overall noise levels. I haven’t put a decibel meter to it but it’s at least as quiet as my general was if not quieter.

      That’s great info man. I’m not sure what I plan to do yet to fix heat and noise. Your info will help many though. If you get a chance to decibel meter it I and others will be curious to the difference it made. You’re the first I’ve heard using poly-fil. Do you feel it creates any chance for fire 🔥? Thanks again for the info and checking out the channel.

      @J.T.Barlow Před 10 měsíci

      @@americandream_89I put a lighter to a handful of the Poly-fil and while really close it starts melting it, it took a couple seconds of being directly in the flame before it caught fire.
      The pros to poly-fil is it’s very inexpensive. It also doesn’t collapse when it gets wet like fiberglass insulation does. While it will act like a filter and collect stuff washed out of the floor, it doesn’t absorb water like foam pads. Overall it was the best material I could find for tucking into all the tight spots and around coolant lines and such. It’s also very lightweight. Only used 100 grams to insulate the entire underside.

    Enjoyed the video and appreciate the fact that you are telling it exactly as you see it and not afraid to point out the good and the bad. With that said, I don’t think you will have this one very long. You mentioned the noise repeatedly, it obviously it the thing you hate the most and it won’t be curable to a level that is tolerable. Personally, I could not live with a machine that is so loud but I’m sensitive to the noise of all of them. I can also tell, momma doesn’t like it either. That’s a ton of investment to not be completely happy. Thanks for the great review.

      @americandream_89  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Glad you enjoy the videos. I’m not sponsored by anyone but my own companies. I want people to see these machines for exactly what they are, and not from someone who’s getting paid from these companies to say whatever. This is a really great machine, but along with myself and almost everyone on the forums, the noise is the biggest complaint. And I don’t truly think it can be fixed without extensive work. Time will tell, but to be honest, I don’t keep anything very long as you can see on the channel. I love testing these SxS machines though

      This is true, I have noticed you enjoy testing various machines and don’t keep any of them very long. I ended up getting a 2023 crew xp1000 open cab. I may have preferred a defender for the room and noise as you pointed out in your review but I couldn’t find a can am dealer willing to sell without adding excessive fees and add on options that I didn’t want. My Polaris dealer treated me fairly. @@americandream_89

      I would’ve did the same thing. See how anyone can justify paying thousands over MSRP in fees. If you’re in an open cab, I don’t know that you could tell much difference as far as sound between the defender and the Ranger. The Ranger at about 4500 to 5000 RPM has a little more clutch noise. But you have a great machine.

    the best way to cut down noise through the back panel is to use mass loaded vinyl.
    the reason why that tunnel are gets puts off so much heat is because that is where the radiator lines run to the engine. it's that way on all polaris machines.

  • @kartpilot63

    I agree with you on what Polaris should do for the price people pay for there stuff. The window latch seems to be an afterthought bc like you said it feels like it’s only glued on. Also how the dust can still get in through the drive shaft I believe. Same thing as my tractor. It gets dust in it too. I think if the defender comes out with like a ride command then I’d think about it. I’ve gone by deer in fields and my defender doesn’t spook them bc of how quiet they are. I mainly drive mine on dirt roads around me bc I live in a rural area surrounded by farm crops.
