@@zetton1374 Reminds me of The Decisive Collision or Blue Destination from Trails of Cold Steel.
@@BOverlord Can't say this is anything close to trance. If it could be anything like falcom, it would be closer to whatever slop Singa would put out, but with only slightly more competent production and composition lol

Damn phase 1 sounds more like a Falcom/Ys theme than an FF14 one, which is NOT a bad thing at all.
Honestly it reminds me of a Modern Sonic final boss (With Super Sonic)
It’s different but in a good way!
Honestly a lot of the soundtrack this time sounds vaguely "Trails" like. The Urqopacha Day Theme is crazy similar to the Nord ost in Cold Steel 1/2
I mean, Soken does seem to be channeling Falcom a lot. Ktisis Hyperborea had a very Falcom-like vibe in its music as well.

dawntrail was fresh and enjoyable. can’t wait to see what else is in store for us.

HE DOES NOT MISS HOLY MOLY
Let's be real, this was basically a Star Ocean game this time around and I loved it.
Just finished MSQ and I gotta say.... Wow. This fight was just incredible. I also just really enjoyed this expac. It had the intended 'summer vacation' feel to rest after all the heavy stuff (dont get me wrong I loved ShB and Endwalker too) This felt like such a breath of fresh air and I can't wait to see where everything goes! Especially after that being the final fight for 7.0
I love fights that do wacky shit with the arena. Sphene did *not* disappoint.
The stuff with Alexandria was all really good. The rite of passage arc was boring as hell though.
@@EWGFenjoyer 'Oh here's an entire half of the game that's Company of Heroes'
I love this theme. It reminds me of Falcom's Ys and Trails boss music.
The beginning of this song matches the beginning of the final battle theme in FFIX.
At the very least, Sphene gave it all as herself than as some machine...
Long live the princess of Alexandria.
the flamenco kicking in. holy fuckignshit
Im not gonna lie, I love this song to death but it feels so weird to hear this without the "Are you still alive" bits.
Phase 2 isnt bad but I can feel Phase 1 in my bones
I can listen to p1 forever.
I can't wait for the orchestrion to be implemented.
In the meantime you can get the dungeon theme version of it from the market board
Definitely enjoyed the WOL summer vacation with this expansion after all the doom and gloom for 5 expansions straight! Ty for uploading! Was looking for this song since it sounds like Megumi’s Theme in JJK
Phase 2 is heavy Phantasy Star Online themes redemption arc
this is absolutely amazing
Square Enix really just made a better PSO2 than PSO2
@@Kiboune_YT If the combat was really good PSO2 wouldn't be such a barren fucking wasteland lmao. Game's got no selling point except being a better looking tower of fantasy
@@Kiboune_YT Combat is the 1% of germs that keeps that game alive imo, its just VRChat with combat at this point.
@@untrustingstatue Nah dude, you got it wrong. The combat in PSO2 NGS is actually very good and fast paced. The problem is that once you have the best gear and no longer have a need to farm anything, the wait for something new is too long. And when that "something new" comes along, it's usually too little too late. Play the game before you talk shit
That second phase goes hard
Soken does it again.
we died a lot and really thought they put a DPS check at the end cause it's like 10 minutes in and we still getting the "Are you still alive?" lolll
How did they make the flamenco music turn so epic?! 4:42
Dawntrail is the breathe of fresh air ive been hoping for
It's wild how much longer the phase 2 music is than the actual phase itself - I thought it was just looping at first, but there's an entire new section from 7:05 that you don't even come close to hearing in-game.
This is probably copium, but maybe it's for EX? I was really disappointed that Endsinger EX never played With Hearts Aligned.
Enjoy this video while it lasts... without gameplay footage, it will soon vanish :p
I was definitely sad to be fighting Hades and Endsinger, but this song combined with the person we had to fight had me utterly destroyed.
Also, holy shit 1:48
I love that it has bits of Jenova's theme in there...not sure why but I'm not complaining.
I noticed that too! Well, now that i think about it, while the final boss isn't a mindless entity absorbing the planet's lifeforce, in essence, she is similar that she world hops looking to absorb the aether from other worlds to sustain her own
@@Zerohopexe I guess Sphene declares herself "a devourer of worlds" which isn't too different to what Jenova was. Also, the figure in the final bosses chest that represents Sphene is kind of reminiscent of the Jenova doll.
Mechanical goddess out to drain worlds of aether to sustain itself sounds pretty fitting for a Jenova reference
The part beginning at 2:13 I'm obessed with since the job trailer video (it was Black Mage and then continued into the Viper showcase). Is there a whole track of it in the expansion or is this track the sore origin?
Anyone knows? 😲

The beginning sounds very similar to some renditions of J-E-N-O-V-A, You Can Hear the Cry of the Planet, and maybe even some Those Chosen By the Planet. Haven't gotten to this part in MSQ yet, and it probably doesn't have much to do with FF7, but I couldn't help notice just from listening to the first 10 or so seconds.
well both entities function similiarly, they harvest Aether of entire worlds.
Nothing to do with Jenova, clearly a reference to Necron Theme from FF9.
this music sound so "happy" wow
FF14 is known for having mostly unfitting music, especially in fights, few exceptions.
The music designer focus more on selling the music itself than to make it fit.
This doesns't even sound like fight music when you hear it, more like some anime intro, with people randomly sitting and running around.
@@miriamweller812 Almost every single Final Fantasy game is known for having music that is meant to have a dominating position on the product mood and is strong enough to be sold on its own and actually sells concerts, especially in fight music.
A person who doesn't want this isn't really looking for what the series has to offer. FF14 is simply known for being Square Enix's more proper attempt to make a Final Fantasy game into an MMO - and much of its music is pulled from other Final Fantasy games.
the dawntrail first trial is MUCH more fitting for its mood. try that one, it’s FANTASTIC.
@@miriamweller812 I think you're completely missing the point on how FF14's music works, in particular since SB onwards. The music is supposed to have uplifting parts, as it pushes the character/player forward to victory. Think of it as a cheerleader cheering you on.
That's the whole point. You can dislike it, but I wouldn't say it's unfitting, cause it goes hand in hand with the theme of the story.
@@miriamweller812 It is not "known" for that at all. Stop pretending you're even remotely half an expert on the subject.
DAMN! they're cooking with grease with ost!😍
The last phase the music was carrying me as I was the only dps left, there 2 tanks and no healers and we lived through that phase and I delivered the final blow as a viper, it felt so good
Love reading these stories ❤ I got to play main tank on this and the music had me going thru the roof popping off with two tank LBs to keep the dream alive for my team 🎉
It was me as a dancer with a pally and warrior, with both of them doing their best to keep me alive. It was pure panic and a most chaotic dance.
like hot damn, Soken can't miss
Soken-sama i can t stop kneeling
anybody got the name of this theme yet? :O
You can tell phase 1 was Soken lol
they should of just kept the phase 1 ost going the whole time
This fight gave me headache with those 3D effects 🤣
Is there any song like Flow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow?
There's the end credits motif and a second motif like flow and tomorrow and tomorrow. It's the song that plays during the final monologue before the credits. And you'll hear part of it during the ascension ceremony.
Phase 1 is so so so good. We're lucky to have Soken
Anyone els notice how she looked kinda like Zodiarc?
Ugh this final boss music is TOP TIER! Really enjoyed this DLC! Wuk Lamat’s journey was amazing and I cannot wait to see whats coming next!
Wuk Lamat was the only bad part of the expansion. Way too much time given to a character who was mid compared to Ysayle, Yugiri, the Exarch, etc. They really should've given the second half of this expansion to Koana and left Wuk Lamat behind. I think thematically it just makes more sense for him and it feels cruel to have him become the Vow of Reason just to get written out. The second half of the story feels so made for Koana it's unreal.
I love this fight except for phase 2 and its transition
I just love that in the normal trial the big band/finale has lined up with when you take the boss out
Very 'we did it!!!!' vibes
why it sound funny at the end
Fucking damn my eyes popped at the Jenova reference
At the beginning if have played or even listed to ff7 soundtrack u hear the reference
4:44 is when it really hits
The HQ must’ve caught fire cause all teams went all out on this boss
Looking forward to the current Dawntrail haters 2-3 years from now giving the expansion nothing but praise. Also banger music as always.
If memory serves me well we saw that same minority of haters shitting on Endwalker too. I think I'll just ignore them at this point. The game has some flaws here and there, but it's by far the best mmo currently on the market imo.
Damn it's like your opinion can change with a live service game that lives and dies by its content.
@@manbearpigserealso proud of you discovering the context of my comment!👏🏼
Highly doubt it. Maybe from a gameplay perspective, but I don't see myself ever wanting to relive The Wuk Lamat Show.
That phase 2 music really pump up my determination and feels im gonna say to Sphene after reaching her low HP
WOL: The world may not be happiness at all...But as long we keep going our adventuring, our future and everything in it!....THIS WORLD IS ALREADY HAPINESSS!!!
WoL is a speech- and mindless murder hobo - thanks to the terrible writing of the game. Could have been much more, but Square is simply too lazy and greedy for that.
@@miriamweller812 Hey SE is doing they job making a great game. Who are you MAGA?
My WoL said: I'm sharting my pants, this is truly a Dawntrail, are you listening, Emet-Horsefart, remember us!
Purely standalone, this is a pretty cool fight. Visually and mechanically amazing mechanics, exceptionally well-crafted arena + surroundings.
But narratively... This was the fastest disconnect I've ever had in the game. I wasn't quite sure how we were going to go about the fight, but seeing this unit just summoned fairly out of nowhere and being as devoid of any life possible, I just zoned out and went to do my Island Sanctuary. In hindsight, I guess I can somewhat see what it's meant to represent, but by choosing this as the final boss, I just cannot _connect._ Maybe a hot take, but this is mine.
TBH i get it but at the same time i also can't really see how else they would have implemented her as a fight. Its not like she was anyone spectacularly powerful that we know of, shit, whats his face did most of the heavy lifting on the fighting side of things. Narratively it fits with her memories being in the cloud
You're kinda on the money thematically. The boss is devoid of all life specifically because it's like a mechanical representation of Sphene's mind and soul, like the reason why it can fight us is because it essentially buries her humanity under like 20 Proxies.
@@kingarthas2814 For one, as we went through Living Memory, not ONCE did we ever get stopped. If that system was so hellbent on keeping people in that paradise, it could at least have shown "outrage" at being held back by Sphere (?) while we went around. Then showing dialogue in which it shows that it's stuck in a thought process deadlock of keeping the people safe and happy, _reasoning_ that we are a threat, then acting accordingly. It'd have been far more terrifying if it had reasoned all of this in a calm and disconnected voice.
That would have been far better than this 'unhinged annihilation-bent death machine'.
Say what you will about The Wuk Lamat Show, Soken still knows what he's doing.
The first phase fells like a xenoblade boss theme
I really love phase 1, but phase 2 is extremely rough in some places, to the point that it brought down the first fight experience pretty heavily. It honestly sound more like a MIDI first draft, especially with the brass, and I’m kind of shocked considering how high the music quality is FFXIV generally.
It's how you can tell it's Soken, and not a Yoshitaka Suzuki orchestration. Look at FF16, Soken doesn't use live orchestra.
Considering the context of the fight, I think not having a live orchestra makes sense. I do think it's just passable, though-the phase 1 theme is the highlight for sure
Largely I think the problem is that it opens really rough and doesn't get the chance to hit its stride since phase 2 is over so fast, it gets good after a bit but that phase is like less than a minute long
please someone give the damn game one more gb for the audio. the piano is louder than the drums and it sounds so bitcrusheddddd arrghhh
I personally did not have that issue. And any distortion in the music actually added to the atmosphere of what the story was going for.
First phase is a very amazing melody but our Shb to EW expectations cannot be experienced the same 😢 its a new story but missed a hero that carries it
The organization of the composition is weird and well, disorganized. I wouldnt say it makes the song bad, just sounds like they didn't know what they were trying to do other than "Uh, something upbeat"
Compare to other boss tracks, there's really no pattern to follow.
Soken has surpassed Uematsu.
for those complaining this expac had no "hero moments"... wuk lamat at the end just had bad voice acting. she wasn't able to sell her "hero moment" properly. her "i want to know all of you" was poor compared to the exarch's "let expanse contract". it had shades of "this was not my intention" levels of VA. wuk x sphene is a kinda worse ryne x gaia. it hits different with JP voices. I feel bad for soken since the writing/VA ruins his hard carry with the music on that scene.
This really feels like the Xenoblade 2 va situation all over again. Reminds me of Rex. There's time where his Va did a great job and then there was other time where you couldn't help but cringe. Same with Wuk Lamat time where the VA did a great job but at other lines where I can't help but cringe.
And honestly she's not terrible the rest of the time. I think it came down to bad voice direction. The whole last fight lacked that intensity you'd expect and I know they'd both be capable of delivering that intensity if they were instructed.
But that's unfortunately the norm with English voice acting and kind of to be expected
Guess they should've hired an actual woman to do the job, not some gross pretender.
@@DarkwraithAbyssal Oh so you're just bitching just to be a bitch, put my fries in the bag bro, it cannot be that serious that you're saying they should've had a "real woman" do something better with your time LMFAO.
In Japanese Wuk Lamat is another character, you can quite understand his personality and how he grows with the good VA he has in Japanese
phase 2 sounds really badly mixed
This is how much I hated the MSQ of DT. Even a absolute banger like this didn't give me an ounce of joy during.
Edit: Phase 1 only, phase 2 is kinda made like Smile is bad.
Lacks an identifiable hero moment like the previous few had. A major issue imo. Does not sound like a final boss, more an important boss.
It's probably just me but DT doesn't have the impact ShB and EW had. It's been 5 years and ShB's ending is still so memorable to me.
