    This short was nicely done, I'm fairly certain little or no budget was afforded for this, which makes me consider previous comments comparing it to the Blair Witch Project, which did have a budget hilarious. Sure, there were a couple instances of obvious filming methods that perhaps felt a little intentional and could possibly take the viewer out of the suspension of disbelief momentarily because it may not have felt natural within the rest of the film. At any rate, it doesn't matter what minor flaws I spotted, the fact that it was a student film, with probably no production crew other than yourself, as mentioned in the description, makes the short all the more respectable. I personally thought it was amazing!

It really doesn't fit as none of this was suppossedly on camera and took me out of the movie when it happened. Its fine in the computer scene of if it had happened to his phone or some other recording device but for that moment it doesn't work.

    I feel that any short that is 'low-budget' and 'student' is going to open itself up to a level of ridiculously harsh criticism, some people opting to close their minds to the cinematographic and directional talent on display. 15 minutes at this budget is an awful lot of work, a remarkable achievement in itself. The atmosphere achieved and sharp (subtle) edits were the high points for me. Oh, and I'd love to know how you managed that 'fluttering' focus effect on those blue-bells.

      Slender man is real. My cousin went to a mental ward for three years, because he claimed he was being stalked. Every one brushed it off as if he was asking for attention he didn't get as a child, by making himself seem important and helpless. He got out under supervision. He was still very obsessed with his stalker. I went into a detailed conversation with him about it once. It was horrifying. He disappeared 4 years ago. The part I don't understand is that he never left his home for fear of being taken. Then one day he just up and leaves??? You would have to know him on a personal level to know what really happened to him. There is no evidence to say he was even actually living in his house? Food had been rotten for months before he was reported taken, but he was visited by his care takers daily. It does not make any sense, I feel like he had slipped into a tear in time or something. He just, does not exist any more. He is fading, my mother did not even know who he was the last time I spoke about him. I brought him up today though and she remembered who he was but, DID NOT KNOW HE WAS MISSING?????!!!! I am starting to think I am crazy now...

    Very creepy and unsettling-in a good way! Camera shots were on a professional level and special effects were great. The locations were mesmerizing, both beautiful and creepy at the same time. Our protagonist finding out that Slender Man drives people insane, then noticing him in all those photographs, was very disturbing. But the best part was that it all seemed so convincing and realistic. Keep up the good work.

    First things first: I really liked the short. Good acting, nice style, hit the tonality of horror and the Slenderman looked great, but there are a also few things I didn't like. Some camera movements and cuts were not motivated and could have left out, your first AC needs a little bit more practice, but who doesn´t. What I got from the text the Slenderman is more a "psychological killer", getting you from peripheral sight. You should have played that more instead of putting him right in front of his victims face several times. That's it. Hope you keep up the good work and can understand my perspective.

    Really, really loved this! Excellent job on making me feel alone in the woods at night. Almost alone. I think it was good, too, that the viewer saw things that the victim didn't: flashes of the white face, even the missing poster. It enhanced the feeling of his danger. And thank you for leaving the ending just like this. Not too much nor too little. This is great!

I was lulled into a false sense of security there!! Question Two: He is a jogger. Instead of walking at an extremely slow pace through the woods, why didn't he jog along the road to get to the station on time? At this point I wanted to shake some sense into him. Question Three: do people who don't smoke keep lighters in their pockets? Wait there's someone standing in my garden, no it can't be.....aaagh------------------

    What I like about this is that it simple, no jump scares, actually builds up the tension for fear instead of using cheap jump scares, seems pretty realistic in how someone would act in a situation like this instead of saying "hello" when hearing a noise. There was no falling over air. I like how the visual aesthetics told the story rather than dialogue, Also it was simple. The music and vibe was calm but yet somehow made it more scary. It focuses more on the plot rather than 30 minutes of nonsense. Also it's student film which is great

    Okay, I think this was a great short film! However, as a viewer and a person who has had an interest in Slenderman for many years I have some constructive criticism and faults with the video. Probably the thing that is nagging at me the most is the fact that when this kid was searching for Slenderman on Google a site clearly stated that he tortures his victims until they kill themselves in the article he was reading. However a few Missing posters can be clearly shown throughout the video, making me wonder if you realised that or just put in the posters for dramatic effect. Also, does this guy live alone or something? It makes me wonder. And the last thing I'll tell you (which you're probably relieved to know, I do tend to drag on a bit) is that I feel as if this is just a bit too unrealistic in the protagonist's actions. He trips and falls and BOOM, out like a light when what would actually happen is he would be terrified, get back up and leg the hell out of there unharmed. And when he does wake up, instead of being a normal person and calling someone to pick him up in the mysterious woods in the nighttime, he uses flash to search for this creature he's only seen twice. And the people he's supposed to meet up with? The fuck is going on with them? The friend, who clearly heard that he was going through the woods, where MULTIPLE KIDS WENT MISSING, didn't show up at all for several hours. What the hell, dude? Friendship goals, honestly. Sorry, but those are just some things I picked up. All in all though, pretty impressive photography and acting. Well done!

      +Alyssa Ryan It seemed to me that this guy is a student, and might be living in an student apartment.
      I also felt the same about the ending. Let's say, he fell and passed out. His friends or whoever he was supposed to meet, should have been called him or would have come looking for him. Moreover, after he woke up, his instant instinct would have been to call someone for help. But, then, I thought, he was trying to get back home, it didn't really seem like to me that he was looking for Slenderman. He definitely looked scared, and was trying to find his way back home.

    Like many horror shorts, this one is too dark, has far too many landscape shots as filler, cuts to black multiple times, uses the camera and music cues to build false tension and ends with a scary face jump scare at the end. This one had Slenderman in it though.

      rvdsm I often find that establishing shots are very effective in short films. What exactly do you mean by "false tension"? It's clear that the director used angles and music very well to create suspense. I think it dragged on a bit, but then again, we don't know what criteria he had to fit for the project.

    • @xXxSM0EKWE3DxXx
      @xXxSM0EKWE3DxXx Před 8 lety

      +disturbed i think by false tension, he means creating tension that doesnt actually lead to anything. you know, the classic scary music building up to only an animal running across the screen scene. anyway, this is a great short film imo

    Very well-made, sir. Your use of flat coloration and darkness to give a creepier atmosphere was quite effective. The lack of dialogue was also a helpful choice in rendering a more complete product.
    Your use of music was limited, and I think that helped add to the atmosphere you were aiming for. Giving a more ambient effect was more effective in the long run.
