Absolutely. It can be hard to remember, but for every horrific headline there are dozens of wonderful things happening around the world. For every bad headline there are hundreds, thousands, millions of lovely little things, small acts of kindness.
I played in a recorder quartet when in college many years ago. Soprano, alto, tenor and bass recorders. I've missed the sound of harmony on recorders! This was warm and soothing. Thank you.
Is it that what that is? A bass recorder!? I was looking and thinking," well it's not a bassoon??"😮
I played in a recorder group in school, but we only had soprano, alto and tenor recorders. I didn't actually know about the bass. Are they playing contrabass as well? They appeared to be playing four different sized ones and I thought the smallest one looked like a tenor. I will have to look it up! 😊

Thank you for this great music from the English Renaissance. This deep flute music brings so much peace to the Christmas season. For me, this kind of flute music is the sound of nature in wintertime. William Byrd's Fanastia 1 A6 would also fit the bill!

Interessanter Klang. Es klingt ein bißchen wie Orgel. Sehr schön musiziert.
Die Orgel hat ja auch Pfeifen, welche ganz ähnlich gebaut sind wie Blockflöten, nur ohne Griffloecher. Ich denke hier Besonders an die tiefen Holzpfeifen, die eine Orgel im Bass hat. Also ist es kein Wunder, dass Blockflöten so ähnlich wie Orgeln klingen.

A pipe organ is, after all, just a set of such instruments each tuned to a different note and played from a keyboard...

I thought the pipe organ was invented to take the place of an ensemble? So, a pipe organ is trying to sound like this?
Music was always ment to heal, bring peace and warm the heart and soul.... there is nothing better then the old instruments... mankind can do incredible good things if they want and sadly incredible bad things either... Lets only stick to the good things !

Well i never learned it. And would never have.
What i learned though was that without practicing I wouldn't learn anything.

Beautiful sound. It's funny how much the sound of a recorder has fallen into the past.
Perhaps it's because of schoolchildren being taught on the somewhat strident soprano recorder rather than these larger and more mellow instruments?
