    It’s nice to see you’re a motorcycle fan. I’ve had many bikes, but at age 70, married, 2 sons, 2 granddaughters I’m done riding. My last bike was a BMW R1150 RT, I put 74k miles on it. I’ve always loved Triumph and BSA, but sadly never had one. Good info shooting with a large light reflector.

      Thanks. I'm glad you liked the technique. BTW I have spent the winter building a bike mostly out of a 1981 BMW R100 (bought as an unfinished project) and bits and pieces found in my shed and scrounged up elsewhere. Love it...

    I just watched your older motorbike picture video and discovered this one....awesome Mike!! Oh how I love the beautiful variety of countryside in England. I moved from Cheltenham in 1982 to live in Canada and will have to travel some ways to see anything but prairie where you can watch a dog run away for 3 days lol. Great use of a reflector. I'm going to try the same technique and then swap out the reflector and putting a speedlite on the ground with a diffuser and then experiment with different settings to underexpose the sky and capture some of the richness of colours with the clouds/sky.

    So thankful for the electrics in bikes now! My goodness I’d forget a step in starting an old girl the beautiful BSA you’ve got - what a ripper of a machine. So typical of motorcyclists too in looking out and after each other. Especially newbies. Very exciting. As for the photography and images, I enjoyed seeing the difference a reflector makes. There’s been a few times when I’ve been out bush, and thought a little bit extra light in somewhere would just help lift something . . . .and of course, I don’t have anything to help. My favourite image was the last one. The light and the context just seemed to suit the old girl. May she keep you going for a good few years yet.

    • @MikeBrowne
      @MikeBrowne  Před 2 lety +3

      Thanks Steve. Fill flash would be a different look because the flash is a smaller light source than the reflector. But yes you can do it. ... MIKE🙏😊

    I like the one taken on the closed road..... Nice leading lines of the road and the environment complements the motorbike. Also the colors complementing each other. Next, it would be nice to see you use the self-timer in your Fuji and put yourself in the picture with the bike. Great images Mike, I think my favourite is the one on the path. Beautiful bike even if you haven’t restored it. When you go to Switzerland next for your workshop why not take some time and visit Freuler’s Race Cafe, Linthal, Switzerland, Freuler is a lover of British motorbikes and has built up quite a collection and used to race sidecar up and down the passes.

I get out and about so much more these days because I have more confidence that the effort will yield more successful shots. Cheers Mike. BTW, what do you think about superzoom bridge cameras? I have a Sony Rx10 which is very versatile. Cheers Mike

    Sorry mike but the first shots you did have a post growing out of the bike seat ! second shot much better. Mike to help with reflector flapping around either stitch another loop at the bottom, or I have seen someone with a loop make with velcro . It would not kill all the movement in higher winds but helps alot, hope this helps.

  • @breathestrongcycling3672

    I, being a brash young biker, once told a much more "mature" biker that BSA stood for Bits-Stuck-Anywhere, he then gave me a clip around the ear and said it was actually British-Scientific-Acheivment.......true story...of course we were both horribly, horribly drunk...😉

    Love the number plate on the BSA GAS 608 I had a BSA Bantam in my early days the I went onto a Triumph 750 Bonny then after smashing up my left ankle and now cant move the ankle as it has been fused so I have to stick to a automatic car.Great seeing the old bike and yes it makes a lot of differance with the reflector. I am hopeing to take up your premium next month as I am going into hospital this week for a operation so will be limited for time before next month. I just hope this op sorts out my stomach problems and I wont have anymore pain everytime I eat.Be lucky - Be safe.
