    The 2014 version was just a session they uploaded for family and friends to see, that went viral. In 2020, Metallica’s assignment to the 53 artists on the Blacklist album was to take a song from the Black album, turn it upside down and inside out and make it their own. The Warning was one of the only bands to take this much risk, and it paid off. 👍😎

    The girls ages were Dany (lead singer and guitarist 14). Pau the drummer 12, and little Ale the bassist 9 years old. Daniela, Paulina, and Alejandra are their full names, but most The Warning fans call them by their nicknames. Allessia Cara was projected on the walls because she is from Canada and with their restrictions on the pandemic couldn't travel to Mexico and vice versa for the ladies. Thank you, 2 GEN, for covering both these versions. You get a better sense of their progress. 🤘🤘

    Great reaction! Alessia Cara is a Pop/R&B singer. For the 30th anniversary of Metallica's Black Album they asked 53 artists to take those 12 iconic sings and do whatever they wanted with them for a charity The Blacklist album. Alessia didn't know what to do but because she shares the same management team as The Warning asked them to collaborate. With COVID19 and no travel- Alessia in Canada and The Warning in Mexico the song was developed and recorded in 1 week and David Bendeth (who produced and mixed The Warning's newest album Error) mixed this. The Video was also shot in 1 week with Alessia still in Canada and The Warning still in Mexico. It was shot in an abandoned textile mill. Alessia was projected on the walls because she obviously couldn't be there. I think Metallica was happy with their results.

    Apparently they got into music through watching their parents and then joining in on playing Rock Band. That game was such an opportunity to get young people into music. First just to introduce them to the music itself. Second, to help break down the initial awkward phase that all instruments have while you develop your coordination. Third, it really emphasized the beat of the music, where the drums and guitar have a very percussive quality, making it easy to lock in and develop a strong sense of rhythm.
    If you're trying to get your kids into playing an instrument, Rock Band will be super helpful, and it is a timeless game, as they continue to update the songs all the time.

    Just amazing to think that from the time they got the invitation to be on the Blacklist album they had just one week to make that new version of the song. What they have said is that they stripped the original completely and then turned it into a pop song for Alessia's voice to fit best and then started building the hard rock back into it. One week in the middle of the pandemic. The Warning recorded all of their parts in Mexico and Alessia was essentially recorded over a Zoom call (different program but same idea) from Canada. Simply mind blowing how talented these ladies are.

    Alessia Cara is a Grammy-winning Canadian Pop singer/songwriter. As The Warning explains it, they strip the song to it's bare elements and rewrote it as a pop song, then rockified (or Warnified) it! A pop singer + a rock band + a classic metal song + genius = this masterpiece. Produced by Matt Squire, mixed by David Bendeth, all done in ONE WEEK! Amazing! Future Legends!

    Yes, this rocked. Great version. I enjoy the back to back videos because it really does show how good and tight they were when they were so young and to today how confident they are that they can masterfully rewrite a classic. Usually the focus is on Dany and Pau, but I want to give credit to little Ale and how rhythmically consistent she was on the bass here. All 3 are phenomenal.

    I like 2014 Enter Sandman more. 2021 Enter Sandman is better in terms of creativity and musicianship. But I'm just not digging the psychedelic approach. I's completely out of line with everything else they ever did and for me it's always the weakest part of their set. Also Pau was already killin' it on the drums in 2014.

    • @berwinenzemann3468
      @berwinenzemann3468 Před rokem +2

      @@g.garcia7151 I agree. They did a good job in giving the song a different take but making it still recognizable. I also understand that they're including it in their set because it's kind of a big deal for a small band like them to get asked by Metallica to do something like this. Of course they wanna use this for promotion. But nevertheless I hope they drop it from the set on the next tour to make space for another original.

    • @robertkrawitz8237
      @robertkrawitz8237 Před rokem +3

      @@berwinenzemann3468 Plenty of major bands have covers that they've made their own -- Disturbed plays Sound of Silence, Jimi Hendrix played All Along The Watchtower, Led Zeppelin did When The Levee Breaks, Heart has always done a Led Zeppelin cover (sometimes even Stairway to Heaven), etc. All of those are/were big time bands. The key is to do something that adds to the song.
      They've never claimed nor promised to play hard rock always and exclusively. Error has a number of songs that diverge even more from "everything else they ever did", such as Breathe, Revenant, 23, and Amour. For that matter, so did XXICB (Black Holes and Show Me The Light). I certainly don't think it's their best song, but they are justifiably proud of having been invited onto the Blacklist, and people love it.
      I saw them this summer with Halestorm etc. in Boston (in addition to in May), and I was sitting next to a couple of people who had never heard of them, so of course I gave them the back story on the band (I was one of the few people wearing a TW shirt). They absolutely loved this song.

      @@robertkrawitz8237 This may all be true but personally I still don't like it. I'm not saying that it's bad. Technically it's a pretty good cover. I'm just not digging it and it takes up the room of another original in the set. On the Halestorm tour they had only 35 minutes of playtime.
