- Director Albert Mayles and film subject Iris Apfel discuss "Iris" following its world premiere at the 52nd New York Film Festival.
The latest film by the great documentarian Albert Maysles is a portrait of fashion- and interior-design maven Iris Apfel as she celebrates the late wave of popularity she enjoyed on the heels of a 2006 exhibition of her collection, advises young women on their fashion choices, and cheerfully bargains with store owners.

I've watched the Iris documentary at least 30 times.
She is brilliant and witty, she would make a great duo with a comedian who can reciprocate her intelligence and sense of humour.
thank you both so much, can't wait to see the film
Thank you! I am looking forward to the book by Iris!
Seems, a CT book of pictures featuring her stylish looks in a setting could be great, with quotes by her, made by her, through the years. She really became a legend/iconic fashionista.
Albert Maysles is the best.
Quien dijo que la señora no era bonita está loco . He visto las fotos de cuando Iris estaba en su juventud era bonita y es una dama bonita presentemente I find that Iris has had life is wonderfully doubled in so many things. As lots of people don’t dare to venture. Kids or no kids , just dare to do. I feel so old being my age compared to Iris. Because of people like Iris my child has focus such an interest in traveling every so many things she likes elementary school child... and example is style; she turned to her grandmother one time and told her : see this lady is much older than you and have no excuses for dressing herself with good style The best thing is you don’t need to be rich! ... my mother was speechless hearing her grandchild say such things to her.. then burst it out laughing...
Every time my daughter gets dressed she pulls out pieces with patterns same or different colors and makes these outfits so unique for herself. My child’s and my favorite quote from Iris is it’s better to be interesting then pretty please pretty only goes so far. Also just because you’re rich doesn’t mean you have style.
🤩
Can anybody tell me the names of the people she mentioned she was inspired by in the past?
One she mentioned was Millicent Rogers and the other I'm still wondering because I couldn't understand either.
Pauline de Rothschild!
