Summer Fly Fishing on the Watauga and South Holston Rivers

Early summer is a great time to fly fish the rivers. TVA dams keep both the Watauga and South Holston River cold even through the hottest summer days. These rivers are home to thousands of wild brown and rainbow trout. Due to our long feeding seasons, these rivers grow lots of large brown trout as well. They don't get big from eating everything that comes by. These fish are smart, and they are hard to fool most days. However, some of the biggest browns in the country come from this area of Eastern Tennessee. Going with a local and experienced guide could make all the difference during your stay in Bristol, TN.
