Just a heads up some countries won’t let you smile in passport photos and have stricter guidelines, in the US you can smile as far as I know (I’m smiling in both of mine and it was fine) but it might be different in your country! Xx
I'm a Canadian and we are not allowed to smile or wear glasses in any government photo IDs.
I think they changed it recently in the US to a soft smile only.🤷🏻♀️ I guess I’ll find out soon because I have to renew my drivers license this week. Thanks for the tips and tricks...hopefully I’ll get as good a pic this time as my last one.🙃🖤
I live in he US and when I got my passport 5 years ago I couldn’t smile. Maybe it was just the mean CVS worker taking my pic lol but I look like a sad bitch in mine now

When I got my passport renewed a few years ago, I wasn’t allowed to smile, had to have my hair behind my back, and tuck my hair behind my ears. Also no thin straps or strapless shirts which I learned years before when I had to borrow someone’s sweater lol

I was told by the Walgreens employee who took my photo that you couldn’t smile at all and definitely not with teeth and I’m in Florida🤷🏻♀️ She said it was because when you smile it changes the shape of your face. I wish I could have smiled with teeth because I paid a lot of money for Invisalign lol
Walgreens employee here in Illinois and yes this is the guidelines we’re given by the govt.

When you were mentioning choosing what to wear, it reminded me that in my husband's driver's license photo he was wearing a green shirt against a green background and he just looks like a little bearded floating head 🤣

i had to get my license photo taken a few months ago, and the lady taking my picture told me i had “something shiny on my cheeks and nose” (my highlighter). she told me to go tone it down for the photo. she was very confused as to why i had intentionally put something shiny on my cheeks and nose 😂 picture turned out cute tho!

Also FYI you cannot wear a white shirt in US passport photos now... I got mine renewed last year and they sent me to get my photos retaken because I wore a white shirt!

@@mandiekayfit4011 I'm from 🇨🇦 and we havent been able to wear white for years, apparently it makes it easier for counterfeiters to crop in someone else's head. I don't know I just remember being told that. We are also not allowed to take our own pics, have to go to pre-approved places and they have to stamp the back of photo with name of company and address!

I wasn't allowed to wear white for mine either (US). I took my photo at Walgreens, and the lady taking it lent me one of the shirts there for the photo.

Mich I’m wearing a good amount of makeup in my passport, license and medicare card pictures! All 3 are different pictured. Never had any problems. (Quebec)
I literally searched your videos for this last night! Took my passport picture this morning! I just did a super natural look with CYO, butter bronzer, highlight, eyebrows, concealer on the lid and loads of mascara! Turned out better than I thought! I'm happy with it for the next 10 years 😂
You can get rejected for wearing too much makeup, just so ya’ll know. And yes, you CANNOT smile anymore.
Great point! I was told to wear very natural, minimal makeup and not to smile. And FYI if you use the Homeland Security app, they'll prompt you to photograph yourself when entering Customs. For that reason so be you should keep it real. 😊

I just renewed my passport and had to renew my license in March. I smiled for both and wore a bright lip.
The official instructions say you can smile slightly...however I am literally driving home right now to change because they said you could not wear a white shirt...which is not in the instructions.

Im really not a pro, i just love it so it would be amazing if I could get some help with how to make it last all day and night. I have normal to dry skin just like you and I think it looks cakey when i put so much make up on like all of the other bridal make up tutorials.

Super good tip to bring the contour and highlight towards the middle of your face since the pictures are straight on never thought of that ❤️

I take passport and license photos for my job and the guidelines for photos, especially for passports, are insanely strict. They’ll reject the pictures for the tiniest things, even for infants if they’re not perfect. Some things we have to stress are absolutely no smiling, not even the faintest bit of a smile is allowed, nor are you allowed to frown. You’re not allowed to wear glasses, white clothing, jewellery or a full face of makeup. Even if you’re the tiniest bit oily skinned they’ll reject it for reflection so I have to awkwardly ask people to blot or powder their faces. All Canadian photos are glorified mugshots lol. But it’s the same for other countries licences and passport photos as well since we do tons of countries. And every once in a while they send reps from the Passport office to give us surprise tests to see if we’re doing everything properly, It’s totally ridiculous 😂
I use mobile passport and it’s the best thing to use for international travel!!

We just had our passport photos renewed including pictures. Surprisingly it was a really great photo. Had my license picture taken a couple of years ago when we moved to Washington and that was probably the best photo for DL I had ever taken.
In case it is not in comments already scrolled off.. the license issue is only for certain states. Most states are fine - if you are not sure whether your license will have an issue at the airport, look up the Real ID act.
Also - CBP Mobile Passport app seconded.
Washington is one of those states - have to have an enhanced ID if you use your driver's license as ID, or you can use your passport!
I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned it but there are apps you can download to take your own passport picture. It shows you where and how your face needs to fit in the frame and you can just keep taking it until you get one you love! :) Then you can get it printed anywhere that prints pictures...costco, walgreens, etc.
Can you a video like this using affordable products, especially a sunblock moisturizer?

My birthday was last Friday and I wasn't able to renew my license online again so I had to go to the DMV. I thought I was being so smart to use the Wet & Wild PhotoFocus products with no flashback....It's hot here in TX and after standing in line outside for 2 1/2 hours in 90° temp with 77% humidity, and then waiting inside for 2 more hours under the air conditioning, right after I got my picture taken I asked about the process to have a new picture taken. What a PITA!!!

I just got my passport photo done and my last one was before my 2nd was born so I was 30 lbs lighter and I LOVED that photo, it was truly perfect. But I lost my passport. So I went all out with falsies & contour and it turned out bomb. And they let me smile. I'm ready for it to last 10 years.

Fair warning, you're not allowed to smile in your passport picture in the US, they will also ask you to pull your hair back from your forehead and tuck your hair behind your ears.

I used to take passport photos in Canada but we did photos for all countries. Requirements vary based on the country you're taking a photo for and it's been a while since I've had this job so I'm not claiming to be an expert. Wearing white and your skin being dewy or shiny will often cause a picture to be rejected if you require a white backdrop (some countries use a red backdrop). I'd recommend wearing something not too light or that could look white due to the brightness flash adds. I know at least in Canada they remove the white background to add a watermark behind you. If a good chunk of your face shows up as white then they reject the photo. It's better to lean on the matte side and avoid an intense highlight. We used to have to powder peoples faces and have a spare shirt for people. Always double check the requirements before going for a passport photo. Licenses tend to be a bit more lenient from my understanding.
Everytime I use my passport I have to explain yes it's me and yes it's horrible. It gets a laugh, but I am almost willing to just get a new one before it expires with these tips 😂

Yeah UK passport and driving licence photos are strict. No smiling, hair tied back, no shadows on you anywhere. I recently got my kids passports done they all look like mini mugshots lol xx

I live in a state where our licence photo is not in color. Makes it so much easier to do your make up for the photo, because it's all just different concentrations of one color. The downside is that the color they went with here is a weird sort of green.
